Ignore everyones negitiveness i am still in high school as well and my parentsthink im nuts! I love how ouragous you you are and i am so excited for you! I have a rooster that follows me and crows if im not there but he is still a very great boy and will leave his girls to play with me! but if you play your cards right and your hen becomes a roo he shouldnt crow to much if become close to him and give him a good bachelor pad haha!! And if push comes to shove get a ring tone that is a rooster crow so if he crows you can blame it on your phone!! HAHA!! Keep me updated i would love to hear more! Btw praying its a girl for ya!!

Ill keep everyone posted, so far so good, no suspicions!!! But the cleaning lady is coming in the morning and im hoping my mom doesnt ask her to clean my room! shell be surprised, and possibly tell my mom,, so ill have to hide her somewhere until she leaves! ill let ya know what happens! -Alex

First of all, that is neat haha.

But I agree with the others you should tell your mom.

I was the same way as a kid, I brought home all kinds of things. Some things I managed to hide in my room, others not so much.. like a 4ft snake.

The only time my family pooped bricks was when I had the snake in my room.

I assume that if you have pets, your family is probably animal people, so they probably wouldn't fret too much.

And to this day as an adult.. I still find critters and bring them home. Lizards, frogs, cats, dogs, rabbits... and now I'm bringing home chickens today! (of course they know about that already)

Tell your mom! My personal opinion you shouldnt have gotten the little girl without clearing it with your mom but its done and over soo....tell your mom! If she finds out without you telling her then I can almost guarantee you that she is going to be ten times more mad than if you did tell her. Unless your Mom is really forgiving.

BTW if she is a hen or roo it doesnt matter shes going to be loud once she matures. I can hear my hens doing the egg song every morning inside the house!

Now trying to be a bubble popper but please consider telling her, I think its whats best for you and Miss, Penny.

The good news is you did pick a breed of chicken that is a little quieter than some breeds and is smaller that many breeds and of course is super cute.

The bad news is that your mom is going to find out eventually, so it is time to start making a plan to tell her. On the day or two before you tell her make sure you are extra helpful around the house and be really nice to your mom. Put together your reasons for thinking a silkie is a good pet. Look up pictures of Tori Spelling pregnant holding her silkie with her 2 kids, so you can say, "See they must be a safe pet."

Start telling her by apologizing, but remind her that you must have been taking responsible care of the chicken if your mom had not discovered it so far.

Hopefully the little chicky will melt her heart.

And, yes, when your chicken peeps that means she misses you.

If you are lucky, they chick will turn out to be a hen, not a rooster

I would love to hear the end of this tale! I hope that when you tell your mom, she will just laugh it off, and go on with her life, but if not, I hope the yelling is short. You can always promise her free eggs...
A friend of mine hid a guinea pig in her room for three months, but guinea pigs are much quieter than chickens. Although, I'm sure your mom has about seen it with a pet skunk, and a pet chicken will seem almost normal! Good luck!
