Keeping chicken entertained in coop.

i dont have my chicks yet, but i have read that people hang up all sorts of food items (broccoli, cabbage, sunflower heads, etc.) it keeps them busy and is a treat.

how old are your chicks? Treats are usually the best entertainment...when I toss in some goodies I tell them: Game on...

I've got a mirror, a couple of balls out in their run, toss in a few worms that I find in the garden once in a while. When I put in new bedding, I don't spread it out. I just open the bag and let them scratch it into position.
Share a bit of my beer with them

Do whatever you can think of that wont harm them or hurt them. I wouldn't take them on a ski boat or skydiving but they enjoy quite drives in the country, walks along the beach, etc.

Shiny objects work well. Big marbles. Hanging a head of cabbage or apples.
Anything for them to pic at. I like the mirror idea thats great.

My chickens are not allowed to free range all alone till we get a boundary fence up. I let them out here and there when I'm watching them. I imagine they get pretty bored in their run so I tossed in a half rotted log. OMG did they have a blast with it. Picked off all the bark, and ate all the bugs. Now they enjoy playing games on it. king of the log... lol

What would you expect with 6 roosters?
(my lousy luck.)

I hang parrot and parakeet toys in my run. I also pluck leaves off my veggies in the garden and toss those in there. I had a grand time watching the chickens bicker over cranberries the other day. Toss them in one or two at a time. I also have a bad habit of sitting on the ground outside the pen and handfeeding grass and clover (or whatever I pluck up) to them through the pen wire. It sure has tamed the roo down quite a bit. He takes treats right from my fingers now.
