Keeping Chickens Free Range

I have been getting less and less eggs daily. I knew there had to be some hidden nests somewhere.

I saw a hen leave a old lean-to we. I went in to look this is what I found.

I got 23 eggs out of the nest, now if I can just find the others..

I had a similar thing happen with my girls.

Do you still consider the eggs edible? I've heard both sides on this.

I consider these edible, They were not there on Monday and we have not been above 50 degrees all week. We have not had a day above 50 in 2 weeks. So I do not see it as being any different than being in the fridge.

I found mine within 4 days and we've had temps in the upper 70's with a bit of rain.

What would your opinion be regarding them?

4 days 70 degrees,,,Hmmm

that could go either way I think. They still have the bloom on them. Would you eat an egg that set on your countertop for 4 days at room temp, that had not been washed... I think I would, but lilke I said either way to me.

I leave my eggs on the counter for 3 to 4 days. But this will be my first summer....even with a.c. it will be a bit warmer so I might put them in the fridge after a couple of days.
