We use a 3 gallon bucket for our duck’s water. We also have chicks that are starting to hop up and I rescued a chick from that bucket of water. Without a mama hen to watch over, do you have any ideas on a safe water solution for everyone?

Can you pen off the chicks so they can't get into the ducks water? They'd be healthier with cleaner water anyway.

If not, perhaps a shallow pan about 4" high and put a flat rock in the middle so if one jumps in, they can at least get themselves back out.

We had the duck in a kennel for a while as she was aggressive to them at first but she’s fine with them now. The deal is that the duck needs access to water that they can’t physically get in to, but deep enough that they can submerge their head to rinse out their nostrils. I just can’t figure out how to provide that safely around the chicks. I know other people here have ducks and chicks together and I’d love to hear what they do.
