Keeping eggs separate during hatch... any advice?

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to separate my eggs for the hatch. They are all in the same incubator (Genesis 1588) and were all set at the same time. I have 5 eggs from my flock and 23 eggs from a different flock... all 28 are the same breed so they will all look the same at hatch. I would really like to know who is from my current flock and who isn't... so, I'm really hoping someone will have some experience and some advice to pass on to me! I was thinking of making a little wall of some sort... just tall enough to keep them separated... maybe something out of corrugated plastic or tops of Styrofoam egg cartons. Thank you!

Hi! I have 'interior walls' for my hatcher made from all kinds of different materials: the same hardware cloth as in the bottom, plastic from the bottoms of nursery plant trays, etc --- just make sure there are no sharp edges and the walls are tall enough the chicks won't climb over before the hatch is done.
Good luck!

I have tons of this stuff! I will make me a little wall and make sure that it is safe for the chickies... no sharp edges, I'll tape them off

It's my first hatch... just put them in last Wednesday eve...

You don't want to mess up the air and temperature flow.

I forgot to mention that --- very important, too.

Great luck with your hatch! What breed have you got incubating?
I'll be just a bit behind you and hatching on the 18th (I set Thurs morning).
Some of mine are 'fertility testings' from the ducks and various pens that quit laying and have started again.

It shouldn't be a problem with a Genesis 1588. Put the five eggs in half of an egg carton with holes in the bottom of each egg section. Then put the egg carton in a small, bottomless box that will sit on the floor. Once the eggs hatch, remove the carton and shells.

I'm hatching out (fingers crossed!) LF Faverolles. I just love this breed... they really are such sweet birds. I hope the hatch goes well... my little boy and I are so very excited about our first hatch.
