Keeping foxes/coyotes off property?

Hi all,
My sister lives in Florida and has recently started losing some of her free-range hens. She suspects that either a fox or coyote is the culprit.
Since she also has horses, dogs, and small children who roam her five acres, traps and/or poison aren't options I think she'd consider to keep predators at bay. Therefore, are there any safe and humane ways to keep foxes and coyotes away? Perhaps scents, decoys, or scarecrows?

She could add some donkeys, but be careful they will stomp dogs too as well as coyote.

Get a big guard dog. We have 2, and they keep everything away! We had to get them as pups though, to train them not to get the chickens.

Electrified poultry netting is relatively easy to set up and move. Kids and other critters learn not to get zapped quickly. You may need to clip a wing or two to keep birds from getting past fence.

Build a nice fenced & covered secured run. Otherwise it will always happen.
