I live in Bulgaria and we get really cold winter upto -38C some years
I am starting to get Mountain quail ,
Will I need to give them heat in winter?
I have Californian and they survive ok

Wow, that is cold. At those temps, I have always added heat for my quail. Mountain quail live along the warm coasts and a bit inland here in the states, where it never gets as cold as you are mentioning. So I think you might want to add heat when it dips this cold. Just watch them closely and see if they do need it.

If your Californians can make it, your Mountains should too (with some habituating though). In the natural habitat, the Mountains are found at the higher and colder elevations than the Valley. Heat is always a welcome.
