Im not sure if you read the previous posts but I mentioned it because someone had a pigeon that clearly did not mate for life...So it is possible.

In a perfect world your statement is correct. However take it from me pigeons are full of surprises.There are always exceptions to the rule. Just as in human who vow till death do us part it sometimes does not always happen. (I must admit pigeons seem to have a much better record than we humans.)
