So what's the going rate for chicks or how can I find out

Check on your local craigslist or kijiji. In my area it is 5-$10 per chick- seems small, but most people buy at least 20 chicks. Consider that going rate compared to chicken chicks, which are $10 each here, and on average hatch out every 40 days. Whereas you can accumilate and hatch out quail eggs in 25 days!
