You know, there was a peak in server usage at 11:50 am EST so who knows... maybe there was another link from some huge place that sent a ton of visitors. I'll need to wait until the stats for the day are compiled tonight to see for sure. We should be able to tell if it was a bug or if it was valid. If valid we should be able to see where they all came from.

Well, I got impatient and dug into some stats (even though they aren't completely compiled yet).

For the past 30 days the top referrers to BYC have been:

Google
Direct (bookmarks, email, etc.)
Yahoo
MSN
AOL

Well for just today:

Google
StumbleUpon
Yahoo
MSN
AOL


So, today we got a TON more visits from StumbleUpon than we've ever seen before and it may have all happened at once (early morning).

The bad news is that it doesn't look like many of them stuck around for very long and even fewer became members.

Even if this looks like it is "valid" I'll still reset the number because it is such a huge statistical outlier.
