) and we have been very disappointed by our council. We are making progress though and willmbe on the agenda at the January Health and Safety Committee meeting. We will need to pack the house that night and it would be awesome to have some of you attend. Please join out Google group for more information. http://groups.google.com/group/cluckent

Thanks!

So sorry for your troubles getting such a simple thing passed.

I admire that you got a group organized. I once posted here trying to interest a group to do the same here in Grand prairie, TX and got no responses whatsoever. How did you find other like-minded people? Any other advice you can give?

I can't express how astonished I am that what one would think of as an informed, enlightened community-it is the site of a university-could have such tiny minded people running the government.

I'm sorry, but it never ceases to amaze me at how ridiculous people are regarding freedoms. So three or four jerks downtown say you can't have chickens? Do they mind if you scratch when you have an itch? Folks have lost it. Their perception of what is right and wrong are so distorted it's pathetic. I have a tree service. Being in that line of work, I work in people's yards....regularly. There is nothing more disgusting than stepping in, or accidentally dropping a rope/saw/whatever in a fresh pile of doggie pooh. But there are no laws against dogs pooh-ing outdoors. PEOPLE are required to have septic systems, so that their pooh is contained in a scent-free manner, and thereby released back into the earth in a manner not offensive to others. If folks are willing to live on a dog food diet, can they do away with their septic systems and pooh in the yard? As long as they do it behind a tree? Cover it like a cat? So John Doe can have a barking, car- (and bike-) chasing dog that poohs everywhere, marks territory all over the neighborhood, and generally makes a nuisance of itself.......but I can't have chickens? WATCH ME........
