KENTUCKY DERBY DAY!

Quote:
I picked the winner!!!!!!!!!!!! what a cheapo horse, only 9500$.

When my youngest one was two she actually managed to pick the trifecta. 1st,2nd and 3rd place winner. I should have placed a bet, darn it.
I cried duringn the race, dont know why, just some happy emotion tears

My BFFE Kelly picked the winner at a Derby party! She liked the name...must have reminded her of the chickens, lol.
She won 120 bucks! GO KELLY!

I love the stories, but I have worked at some of the HUGE T-Bred farms here and I think that it is a crazy and money hungry business...I guess its not bad if you are the one getting all that $$$ tho....

THe only thing that makes me wonder is where they come up with those names." Mine that bird" he is a great horse no doube, but did they open he thesauraus and point at three words??

I totally missed it! Since we have moved back to Kansas, and don't have the HUGE fireworks display a few weeks before, I keep forgetting.

I TiVod it and watched last night when we got home.
Great race. everyone went off safely.

I have to admit that I do not follow it like I did before Barbaro and then Eight Bells last year. And owning a retired TB, the injuries caused by racing so young really hits home with me. I still cant imagine my boy ever having raced.

I love the story behind MineThatBird. The amount paid for him, the 21 hour drive. And I LOVE his jockey. Not fond of the trainer so much though. But it was nice seeing D Wayne Lucas back with a horse.

Great Finish! But I think I've discovered a new way to pick a Derby winner. Just bet on the one with the wierdest name.

Its a great story, which is what makes the Derby so fun, its always a good story. Its not quite as rags to riches as has been posted here, as Mine That Bird was last years Canadian Champion 2 Year Old, and his current owners purchased him for $400,000. But it is still as unlikely a winner, and a road to the Derby, as there ever has been.
