Some breeds have more aggressive roosters than others. I haven't heard much about mean BRs though. You did the right thing. Too bad you're not closer to us. One of my girlfriends has a lavender orpington and a buff Colombian cochin she's trying to re home. She handles her birds A LOT so they're very tame.

I agree that some breeds can be more aggressive than others.

I currently have about ten roosters in my flock and they all get along very well.

Of course, they are all considered more "passive" breeds (large fowl Polish, Silkies, d'Uccles, and barnyard mixes from those roosters).

I would also say that amongst all my hens, my BR's are the unfriendliest.

So far the nice roosters I have had have been eaten by day predators. My most trustworthy roo was a sumatra. I wonder if the roos that get very tame have a better chance to flog people? He was alittle skittish never got too close. The agressive roos would walk right up to you. I may need to get a white egglayer roo.

Another question... When is the next auction in Casey co? March the......?

And does anyone know when the swaps in Frankfort resume? Which Saturday each month?

Thanks!

It's usually the last sat of the month. I usually take a bunch of birds there. That's where my splash marans brought $19 each for 8 week olds!!!! I will be taking alot of marans off along with sussex and some mixed.

No Frankfort swap? That's a stab in the heart for me. I've been hatching every wyandotte egg I have just because of Frankfort...
By March, my younglings would have been out of the brooders and ready to sell.

Maybe we should look into putting it on ourselves. I don't know where they held it but if there is enough interest we should think about it.

I know, it sucks. I actually live in Frankfort and I don't know anywhere nearby that has swaps. I saw in the news paper that they weren't going to have any swaps. I also would have had chickens ready to sell by then.
