Ok, not being snarky here - honest I'm not, but is there a Long Island Red Chicken???

These folks are in my town - I would be interested to know what ducks and geese they got.

Not gonna call, though, because of the whole "strange chicken" thing I'm still dealing with. Hubby would probably have a fit if I got more birds right now (with the bator going full blast and chickens in the house

)

But, anyone near me who needs chickens or ducks or geese....

Hey Meri, That is my friend May!!! She just found out she has breast cancer. I haven't talked to her in a week or so, I guess the prognosis isn't good if she is getting rid of all her birds. the only thing that her birds have problems with that I know of is cocci, and I'm not even sure about that. I got my blue splashes and Gertie, Emma and Bertha off her. She has all kinds of birds, chickens, ducks geese, turkey, pheasant, don't think she has any quail anymore, but not sure. Oh, now I'm gonna have to call her and see what the doctors said!!

So, I got a minute here, to post

Well, I guess I've decided to cull the main coop

That's a lot of birds, not sure how I'm gonna do it, or how to dispose of them.
I want to burn them, but the best place would be the firepit - would have to talk hubby into letting me toast 20 chickens in his pit.

Also, how to cull them? I could wring their necks, but I'm not good at it, and it takes me a long time and I hate to do it that way. I could chop their heads, but the blood would go everywhere, unless I did the deed IN the firepit, and burned the blood, too.

Any way you look at it, it isn't going to be fun or pretty.

Well, now I just have to choose a day, I guess. I'm thinking after Mom and Budd leave, and before Adam gets here for Christmas.

This is really going to suck
