He IS gorgeous!!! He looks sort of like my Boo - but Boo has slate colored legs. Plus, someone chopped the crap out of Boo's left wing in an attempt to "clip" it

Ya know, they've got internet pics of how to do it - it is in most chicken books I have seen - couldn't they have followed a diagram? or did they let their kindergartener do it with his baby scissors??

My other red pyle roo is really washed out, but he is pretty, too. I just love the combination of the two colors on the red pyles.

I found a home for Marley, someone is coming this morning to get him - too bad they don't want three or four extra roos, LOL I got em to find homes for!!! Only one I can't catch yet is Flav (the little ggrrrmbbb

)

Anyway I'm glad ya got a camera, ya need to post more pics of your babies - I love chicken pics <g>.

Some of mine are on this page - (not all, by any means, LOL) and some of them on this page are gone (the Bad Boys - NH red roos). but, here ya go...

ETA - LOL I just noticed the metal building materials in the background - we had a HUGE pile of that stuff, been using it like mad, we need to find some more. That stuff is SO handy - makes good coop and run roofs.

Peace -

I have added pics to my page. Some are kinda blurry (darn chickies won't hold still for NUTHIN), and most are kinda far away (it's ok for THEM to walk up to ME, but God forbid I try to get close to them!!) Hope you like them. I didn't get a pic of Bertha yet, wanted to get one of her runnin around the yard, and she has been off the nest once already. She will probably come off again later (silly girl gets off at least twice if not three times a day). She is the cochin, that I have decided is a standard.

Hope it works!!

Hey -

Ya want a game roo for those game hens?

I don't much care for the guy, he just free ranges, he's a good roo, I guess, I just think he is ugly. He doesn't have a fancy tail or anything, he looks like a hen, if ya didn't see his spurs, LOL. I don't know if his type of Game are supposed to have fancy tails or not, but he doesn't. I think he's a mutt.

We call him Flava Flav, because he is --
A) ugly
B) horny
C) not good for much, but he sure does like the womens.

LOL He is yours if ya want him. He is smaller than George by a little bit, but bigger than my other bantams. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe 8-9 inches tall. He's about a year old or so.

ETA he has a rose comb.

Yeah I noticed that comb...wonder what he is mixed with? He looks kinda like Attila...same body shape and stuff. I want George!!! He is gorgeous (lol)!!! I'll show dad the pic and see what he says. Most of the game hens are his. I only have the one. Oh btw, did you check out my page? What do you think of my others? I know you can't see the babies real well, but I kinda like my skin, and only open the cage when I have to!! Not worried too much about the splash hen, but Gertrude is mean!! She almost got me yesterday, cuz one of her babies got through the 1" chicken wire. I was putting it back in, and she saw it in my hand. I couldn't drop that baby fast enough!!

I love your pics, and I'd love to stop by sometime and see your chickens in person. I got to check out Cindy's yesterday - wow, she has a varied selection, LOL. I like the blues - I may have to be in the market for some blues, don't have any. I adore baby chickens - of any sort, LOL. I'm not much into silkies, but they are certainly interesting, LOL. I've had the chick through the chickenwire thing happen, LOL broody/mama hens can be such nasty creatures!!

Yeah, Flav's comb is odd - it is not only a rose comb, it is purple, LOL. I had two pullets that came with him, but they both died within a couple of days - I think the chickens were inbred - maybe that is why Flav turned out so ugly <g>. I got them from an Amish guy near me - at an auction. I know the Amish folks around here totally free range, so "whatever" gets to breed with "whatever else" - which is usually ok, but every now and then you get - well, a Flava Flav
lol.png
I think I got the short end of the deal on this rooster, tee hee. I figure if I give him away for free, though, I aint conning anyone.

ETA - btw, I got the sweetest chicken in the world from Cindy yesterday - she's a black cochin bantam pullet, I named her Nana - she is just the most cuddly little chicken I've ever met. She isn't full grown yet, and she is talkative and fluffy and she likes to sit in your arms and just gurgle/chirp at ya.
I want to hug her and squeeze her and kiss her and love her - but her name aint George
wink.png
I already got a George - he aint so cuddly, though <g>

Well, let me know, I have PLENTY of blues! I have so many, I am getting tired of seeing blue chickens!! You are welcome to come over whenever you want. I am almost always home, and you have my number, so you could call and make sure first. If you need my # or directions again, just let me know!
My chickens pretty much breed with whomever, but right now, as far as I know, the only roo that is breeding is the splash. I saw one of my young red pyle's chasing my game around for quite some time the other day though. He probably wouldn't know what to do with her if he did catch her, lol!
Dad's araucana hangs out with my little red pyle gang, but I have seen my splash roo breeding her, so that will be more blue chicks, cuz she has finally started laying!
If you want, we could always meet up at the sale, and you could follow me back home. Then we could 'watch the show', my dad's 2&1/2 mo. old RIR and wyandotte chicks climbin the ladder, so they can roost in the rafters with their game 'mama'. My son calls it the show. It can be pretty comical!
P.S.- I don't really like the silkies that much either. They are pretty cute as babies, but they are definitely not my favorite. I just got them so I could trade them with a friend of mine, but she doesn't want them either. I will probably get stuck with them though, cuz dad was talking yesterday, and said how 'pretty' they are. He said he has always liked the fuzzy kind. Oh well, c'est la vie!

I have to get rid of the boys, first, then I'll have a cell open for more chicken swapping around here.
I am still trying to get them to accept the trio I got from Cindy yesterday, but today was MUCH better - only two throwdowns, and no blood or feathers, just a lot of thumping - I stepped between and they stopped and went to their respective corners
wink.png

I definately want to check out your chickens in person - just don't let me bring home TOO many
big_smile.png

The guineas decided that since I was kind enough to forget to turn the light off in the bottom coop - they would roost with George and his girls tonight - so I got a REALLY full coop down there at the moment. At least their all perched and sleeping, and not having to share the space while roaming around in there. I would actually prefer they learn to sleep in there at night, since they are too stoopid to sleep in the barn with Flav, Shug and G.Jr. (G.Jr. is George's chick - she is a pullet - Shug is her mama.) Winters here can be so wet and windy, I didn't want them trying to sleep in a tree or on top of the chicken run, LOL.

All this means is I'll have to get up earlier to let them out. I need an automatic chicken door on that cell, I guess,
hmm.png

I'll call and set up a day and time. If I can't get rid of the boys through the ad I placed - I'll call Matt and see if he wants them.

Peace -
Meri

Well, you would have plenty of time, unless you don't mind surprises! the only blue chickens I have, that are over 2 weeks old, are my two splash hens, and my roo. But almost ALL of the chicks I have had hatch are blue or splash, and I have 31 so far!
As far as the fighting, I haven't had too much trouble with mine. The red pyle cockerels are just now getting daring, so 'big poppa' has pretty much the run of the place. I did see him and one of 'the boys' fighting yesterday (not sure which one, most of them look alike!). I'm not really sure who won
hu.gif
They just jumped up in the air at each other a few times, then turned and walked away.

Oh I'm sure they know exactly who won. It's just hard for me to tell, when there is no bloody combs to worry about!
