Well, it doesn't look like I missed too awful much today!

Meri~~Glad you found Jr. Those OEG's sure are sneaky!! My Gretta was setting on a nest for probably a week before I even really noticed she was missing!!

And I am sooooooo glad that it is supposed to warm up!! OMG, that weather was COLD yesterday!! It's cold today, but yesterday, the cold and the wind together was making my eyes hurt as soon as I went out in it!

Well, Gertie has decided to go broody again!!! For those of you who don't know, Gertie is my OEG/silkie mix hen. I posted a pic of her a few (probably more than a few) pages back, because she won the best free-range photo contest. She just hatched eggs from cthrash1 2 months to the day ago, and she is broody again!! I don't even think she has any eggs under her! At the most, she might have 2 or 3. Gretta and Gretchen and Gertie all lay in that nest, but I know I got the eggs day before yesterday out of there. So at most, she has 3 eggs and a golf ball under her

But talk about timing!! I am getting some bantam EE eggs in a day or two, so she will get to hatch those for me!!!

Thanks Gertie!! I can't wait till all the silkie girls go broody, I'll probably sell my bators! I know I'll be ordering eggs to fill 'em up, since I can't hatch worth a darn in the bator right now!

Okay, my OEGB roo looks exactly like your Chicken George! I took some oatmeal and grits out to them today as a treat. His two girls were fussing at me a bit because I wasn't moving fast enough with their food and water.

I can't wait for the warm weather so I can finish all the coops and runs and let them all stretch out a bit.

Ms. Lewis Rich....
Can you contact me or give me a way to contact you? I am a fireman in Lex. Ky. and I think we spoke once before. Your webpage will not let me view it without a password and I could find no email address. I have bantam cochins and have some questions.
Thanks,
Darrin Day

I hope your oegb roo is as good a rooster as George - I absolutely love that chicken - I would sell any chicken on this place except him - he's saved my hens (and a duck) more than once.

I had always heard that oeg chickens were wild and rough and tumble - George is the biggest sweety that ever walked (or waddled

) I wouldn't trade him for anything. He is invaluable as a protector for my hens (and ducks

he figures they are part of his flock, too).

George was the first chicken I ever bought. I was so happy to have a baby out of him - Jr. is a good chicken,

she is just psycho - not mean, just wild, very very wild. I think she could survive happily and fine without any humans anywhere near her. Shug sort of has a mind of her own too, but she likes the comfort of the coop.

Well mine is the one that I chased around the neighborhood for two days after he made his escape. However, I think he is still a bit young as he doesn't crow very much, mostly he and the girls give a soft chortle instead of a cluck.

My fellow Kentuckians...I need help!

I checked on my birds tonight and noticed my Brahma hen has a small chip and tiny crack in her beak. Is there anything I can do? Has anyone dealt with this before?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the welcome.
I hope you all will come and support the swap. It should be a nice way to meet up and trade birds, etc.

I bet you know my Uncle Guy and Uncle RC. I think RC has done Minatures for a long time.

Hope to see you soon!
Lynn

Yes I have met your uncle RC, heck of a nice guy, haven't had the chance to be that involved with the minis the last couple of years though.

Shelley or Meri, can you repost the address for the Sano Auction if you have it handy. I know it's in Russell Springs, which is probably about 2 hours away from here. Thanks
