Thanks for that link.
When I received the call this morning there hadn't been anything published yet. I was notified that their bodies were NOT ravaged by fire, but that they died at the hospital as a result of the carbon monoxide while trying to get out. The fire supposedly never reached that part of the house. I can take a little comfort in knowing that.
I was told that the funeral will be Sunday..although no details have been given yet.
I have contacted some friends and we are trying to see that his chickens and goats are taken care of so the family doesn't have to worry about that.

I had intended to stop over at his house next week to have him build me some custom size cages. Most all of my cages came from him.
One of his nephews is into chickens and may likely take some of those. I have volunteered to house his goats or any birds that need to be temporarily placed if need be, or to take my turn feeding and watering. I am heartsick over losing such dear friends. John and Jewell were just about the first people I met when I moved to Kentucky two years ago.

Hi!
Nothing developed... Could've been the PO handling or could've been the times the chickens were stealing each others eggs back n forth... If I was able to see in the Marans eggs under Union to know they weren't dev... I would have put these eggs under her instead. But "If If's and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas!" never know what happened... Kinda like the only BCM Union had to hatch that died 4 days later... Don't know why.
Took all the eggs away from the broodies because Cortnis Java was killing every chick that hatched and even a couple of prehatchers. Lost 9 chicks in the last week because of her... We thought the broodies were fighting over them, then I caught her a couple of times... Rescued one finally. Now that all the eggs are gone the only one left on an empty nest is the blue And. The rest finally gave up and went on the perch.
So I finished a small (3ft X4ft) A frame chicken coop this weekend. I hope to put a trio of OEG bantams in it. I went to move it this evening (at dusk) to a new spot and one of my standard BO hens ran out. Hen tested, Matt approved!! lol.
Hey all. I had to put down our 2 month old african male this weekend. I'm looking for a replacement so the female won't be so lonely. Doesn't have to be a male or african. Although I'd really like one. But it does need to be in the same age range. Please let me know.

I have just what you need! I have a 8-10 week old african (can't remember for sure how old). I'm almost positive it is a male. Just to be sure, we are talking about a goose?
