LOL Have ya come up with a name yet?

Here's some to ponder....

oh, and there's always "Ugly Puppy"

I did some reading up on them. If ya just got the one male, you might want to have him neutered if you dont plan on breeding him.

I don't know if I want a male or a pair - but I doubt that I would want a lone female. They say (if they aren't spayed) when they come into heat (once a month) they get cantankerous. Never had one, so I don't know.

Ya know, actually, I think if I get one I'll name it Ugly Puppy

I like that name.

the TSC in Campbellesville was out of chicks when I got there - they must not have ordered very many. I got some at Day & Day, though, this last spring. They order from Mt. Healthy Hatchery (I asked).

You can special order (outside of what they normally get in) and it will come in when their other chicks do, too. I may get my meaties that way. It is cheaper on shipping if you do it like that, because they order so many the shipping is less.

I have to take the kid to the store tomorrow for jeans. If I can haul his dead butt out of bed early enough I can stop at Day & Day and get my incubator.

Shelley, keep me updated on those babies you are medicating. Poor things. I hope the comfrey oil helps.

I really need to start my herb garden up again down here. I had a nice big one up where I used to live, I left everything behind. Whomever owns it now will probably just pull out all those "weeds".

Idjits.

At least I need some comfrey for when I run out of the oil I have made up. That stuff is fantastic for wounds. And some lavendar - just because I like it. (I make bundles of the stems after the flowers are off to throw into the woodstove or fire outside - smells wonderful.)

Well, gonna go watch some TV with hubby....

I love Shelley's big cochin - I may have to get me some big ones, too. I'll definately be keeping an eye out for any cochins I can spy. Let me know if ya want some, Bluedog, and I can pick some up for ya if ya give me a list of what you want.

Peace -

How soon are you going to take Coco to them? I can bring Blue over when I pick up the babies, if you wanted to wait that long.

I don't think hubby needs any parts right now. He is concentrating on re-doing the corral so he can get more baby cows.

But, with gas prices down, I can maybe talk him into letting me get away sooner than that - Maybe I'll grab Shelley and we can both come so she can see your chickens

I just went and checked the chicks, and the one with the scalped head is dead...

The other one is still breathing, but it didn't make a big effort to get up when I opened the box...it will probably be gone soon as well...

I know I won't ever do that again. From now on, any chicks that get hatched inside will STAY inside (or rather, on the porch in a brooder). It almost makes me wanna give up. The poor little things...

Cris went to sleep shortly after we got back, so I haven't really been thinking about the piggy much. Cris said something that he wanted to call it, but I couldn't understand him. I'm sure he'll tell me again tomorrow.
