Kentucky people

Now, the last one I could probably just add onto Fowlty Towers, and save building one wall - it would have one window that opened into the coops that come before it, instead of to outside, but that isn't all that bad, either - I could for sure get air without breeze that way.

Hmmm... I think I'm liking the 8' x 8' one best

Problem with cages stacked is the heat lamps - how would I put a heat lamp on each cage?

I suppose I could have cages on a shelf, and storage underneath.

Building will be about 8 foot tall at most.

Put the younger chicks in the top cages, and the older ones on the bottom. With all those heat lights, plus a heater, it would be plenty warm enough for them.

Sorry about the drama, I'm better now...

I was gonna ask you and Cindy this, but I see she is gone now. Maybe you know?

What brand of dog food do you use? I use Pedigree, but I was in a 'freebies' mode a month or so ago. I have 3-$1 off coupons for purina one dog food. Was wondering if you or Cindy would want them before I post them? No reason to waste them. It is too expensive for me.

<edit> 1 is purina one, 1 is purina dog chow, and the other is purina healthy morsels.

I just get IGA brand dogfood - they dogs like that better than the fancy stuff. In fact, Lily is very picky - I can't change her food too often or she gets hives,

Thanks, though.

Ok, last one, I promise, LOL.

Modified 8x8 and added on, because hubby (the silly man) said "why not just make it 8x16?"

So....

Stick these two together and add an 8x8 run off the second one.

This way I get TWO coops for one

See? Now you have plenty of room to make it like Mrs. AK's!! Have you seen hers? It is beautiful!! Could you imagine the possibilities? You can be your own hatchery!! (probably egg supplier would be more accurate, but you get the idea!) You could use it as a brooder, and when there is extra room, or when you get a lot of breeders, use part of it as breeder cells! Make the cages 2&1/2 feet deep, bottom cage for bigger/older birds-4&1/2 foot high, top cage only about 2 or 2&1/2 feet, so you can put the windows above, and not worry about any escapes. There could be a 3 feet wide walkway, and the bigger cages could be 4 feet wide. Ok, so that's 12 4' wide by 2&1/2 feet deep by 4 &1/2 feet high cages for bigger birds or breeder pair/trio, plus 8-2 feet wide by 2&1/2 feet deep by 2&1/2 feet high! Presto! Instant egg factory!! Put some tilting nest boxes on the front of the cages, and all you have to do is walk down the aisle and pick them up!! You could even get some QUAIL!!!

LOL I don't want to deal with quite that many batches at once - but yeah, I'll be Mother Clucker's Hatchery for sure by the time I'm done.

I may add in some breeder cages to it like ya said, still have not finalized anything, after all it'll be next summer (early summer) before we start this.

I told hubby when we were moving that I planned on having a Chicken Ranch - silly man didn't believe me.

Only I guess my umm... fallen ladies....are feathered.....

And the neighbors wonder why there is a red light in the main coop... they probably think it's a heat lamp, silly people.

You betcha!!!

I'll wager they'll make the border harder for us Yankees to cross after this.

I can see the roadblocks set up at the Bridge in Lousiville - The League of Righteousness will be standing with signs that say "Yankee Go Home!" and "No More Who%#@ " -- oops, family forum, nevermind.

LOL Why do you think I close my sewing room door whenever anyone comes over?

I fully expect my neighbors to do that to me one day....
