If you're wanting to swap roosters, then NO THANK YOU!!! I have enough!! I was 'going' to take the red pyle boys to the sale, but I 'forgot' to remind dad so we could catch them, By the time we 'remember' they will be awake, and impossible to catch! hehe I know that I need to get rid of them, but I like them too much. When I get my breeder set-up running I will probably keep my two faves and get rid of the rest. I am just scared that I'll take all the extras to the sale, then the stupid hawks will get the ones I want! The rate they have been taking my birds this week is unbelievable!

Besides, I thought you were gonna swap me some 'promise' eggs?

I am heading to bed myself. I can't believe I have stayed up this late!!

You get the eggs, PLUS.... umm.....how would you like 2 hens - already laying, mixed bantams, very pretty. One is very pale orangish (like porcelains) and one is orangish (slightly darker) with feathered feet and muff, almost looks like Emma - but not as well typed.

Yes, I DO have roos, LOL but I won't bother ya with those.

waiting for the mailman..... waiting waiting waiting.....

I hope those eggs come today, and I hope they arrive in good condition.

I left the chickies inside today. When I went out to do chores this morning, the guineas were hiding in the barn and the donkeys actually were hiding under the lean-tos... never a good sign for a nice day.

The guineas and donkeys would rather stand out in the rain and get wet than go for shelter, usually.

We need the rain (well, Needed it a month or two ago

) so I'm not complaining - plus, with rain I get to stay inside today and clean my house so I can sit and read my new books later.

Now if that dang mailman would hurry and bring me my eggs!!!!

I got Shelley's eggs last saturday - I am hoping to set them in the bator by tomorrow at the latest!! if the other's don't get here, I'll just set what I have and add them in when they get here, I guess.

stoopid usps!!!!

waiting waiting waiting

LOL like he believes THAT will happen.

Every time he builds me one I say "well, looks like that'll hold me for awhile."

"a while" is usually about two months,

He is building me this one, I think because I told him I can grow our own meat chickens, and he wants me to. Plus, he likes to build stuff.

I can bet that when Shelley and her dad come out Monday that he'll drag them all over showig them everything we've done to the farm in the last year. He for sure wants to show off the progress on his pig corral.

It does look impressive, I admit.

I can't wait to get pigs - I've been combing Craigslist to look at them (haven't found many nearby, will probably get some at the livestock auction) But we won't be ready for pigs yet until probably closer to spring.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY EGGS ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Meri

My excuse is that I'm just plain stupid, and don't know when to go to bed!!!

Ok, got them all unpacked (14 of them) and they were packaged really well, don't seem to be any cracks (I need to get a good flashlight to candle eggs). Got them all marked and sitting in an egg carton - I'm gonna die before tomorrow morning when I can put them into the bator!!!!

I hope at least half of them hatch, and I hope that I get at least a male and a couple pullets. One (roo) to five (hens) would be very cool - I can hope, right?

Just be careful and DON'T DROP THEM!! In all your excitement!! Make sure you let them rest for a while before you do ANYTHING to them!! Just set them on the table for 6-8 hours, and DON'T TOUCH THEM!! Happy hatching!!

I'll have to look at the hens you have. I would need to figure out which roo to put them with. The porcelain one could probably go with my red pyles, but I'm not sure where I'm gonna put Emma, so I don't know about the other one. Gertie is gonna go with Charlie, I think, since she is supposedly part game. Not sure about her though. Like I said before, I really want to go into pure breeds. And I don't use the eggs for eating. Maybe I could use the hens I have that would not fit with others as brooders? That might work. Emma is a great mama. Gertie is not too bad, but she did leave her chicks awful early. Plus she would take them all over the place, especially in the pastures. That's why I lost so many. They would be out in the open once she left them, with no one to alert them to predators. The other hens keep their chicks near the house or the barn, or at least in the tall grass.

I'll start a hatching thread and put a link in my sig when I get going, so everyone can follow the progress.

I'll make it really picky for all the newbies who want to experience it before they start....

ETA - Hmmm. that's funny A N A L gets changed to "picky".
