Enjoy that one...I need to go to the meat man because we just gave a bunch of meat to the step daughter as they have no food in the freezer right now and I gave her my only fresh frozen chicken. I'm sure the meat man will have more by now...At least I hope so.

Cheepers got a bath today...Isn't she the cutest? She is about 8-9 wks old. She smells like tropical baby shampoo now. Took a long time to blowdry her but she loved every minute of it. While I blowdry her she gets right up next to my belly and leans on my then turns around the other way and leans on me again. She's laying on the chair behind me right now cheeping softly. She is hogging the chair also, got me sitting right on the edge.

Hey wow, Cheepers is cute. I'm tempted to get some silkies except I have three times the number of chickens I should have.

Yes they are my eggs. My 20 week old Jersey Giant roos started mating with two young hens who had just started to lay. I really didn't expect anything to come from them but I put their eggs in the bator just to check them out. My two older hens wont let the roos close to them.

One hen is a Jersey Giant and the other is my mutt hen. Rusty(Jersey Giant roo x NH hen) roo x Buff Orp hen. I didn't plan that one. She is small and fiesty, and kind of cute. If I chase her she will eventually hop up on something and let me catch her then pecks my hand several times.

I put 14 of their eggs in as well as 4 from the older hens just in case and incubated them for about 12 days before candling them. I then pulled out the 4 older hens' eggs and 4 of the others which were not fertle.

I am supprised that a 20 week old Jersey could lay fertle eggs and they hatch. I have two other Jersey hens the same age who are now 25 weeks old and still not laying. The one that is laying is smaller and seems to have stopped growing. I wonder if she is really a full blooded Jersey?!

The father of several of these chicks is now in my fridge. He was more of a pain than the others and didn't have black legs like I think a Jersey should. I ment to cull him earlier but I'm slow about these things.

I went to help a lady whose husband was given some deer meat and needed help cutting it up. In exchange I received a few steaks and stew meat. My fridge freezer is full.

I'm not a big meat eater or cook much so I didn't need much. She's happy and so am I. We both work at the same place.

Okay all this is Layne's account...He wanted me to make him one so he can talk to you guys, share his experiences, and learn things. So when you see this dude please have patience with him.

Trying to figure out how to load and avatar for him anyone know what I need to do? I tried our photos off the pc and it says the files are too large...I don't know how to shrink the files on Windows Vista. Is there a way to transfer one from photobucket?

Upload it to Photobucket, but have it upload at the 100x75 size (I think it indicates it as avatar size) I think that is the numbers, anyway - it'll automatically make it the right size.

Then just upload it to BYC personality page.

Heya all -

Well, Miss Celie thought she was gonna stay out tonight, but it was SO cold. I made her go in (without much prodding
lau.gif
I guess she just needed a special invitation).

Everyone else was ready to go inside (especially Oprah, after sleeping outside last night, she was the first one to the coop
lau.gif
) and Miss Celie was heading for the garage, so I got a long stick (I sometimes use to herd them - not hit, just show them where NOT to go) and I said "shoo chick" at her and she went right on down and into the coop. Maybe I can re-train her dumb butt to go inside to sleep at night - at least until summer comes again

.

I really had no trouble with anyone tonight - after I shut some out last night, I guess they figured I was serious when I yelled it was bedtime and to come on down

.

So, I have to clean brooder cages tonight

not my fave thing, but they is gettin' stinky - so necesary. gonna cruise BYC for awhile, though.

I have the complete Avon White Bisque Porcelien Nativity set. I started collecting it back in 1979, all in their original boxes. I had pictures of it somewhere but my scanner isn't working up to snuff at the moment.

If you look above at the tool bar for the site, you will see a header marked uploads. You can upload photos directly to there from you computer without having to go to photobucket. If you scan them to file on your own computer. They even have a box you can click that will automatically make it an avatar photo.

I like ones that are different than the usual

the bisque one sounds lovely.

I've seen some on ebay that are hand carved folk art looking, those would be cool, too. Some are done in Olive wood.

The wood celtic cross ya can see hanging behind the one nativity pic I posted I got a couple weeks ago - I had to have it - got lots of crosses, but didn't have a nice wood carved one, and no celtic crosses.

I wish Hobby Lobby was closer to me, I'd be shopping WAY too much if it were, though

.

But, my Step Dad does a lot of woodworking, and he told me he would make me all the carved wood crosses I wanted

I just need to do some sketches or send him some pics of nice patterns I find online. He just got a new jig saw, too, so he can cut them out then finish them by hand, make them look more rustic. His kids took all his jig saws (borrowed, they say) so he needed a new one.

He made all the bird houses I have out on my fence, and he's made me some other cool stuff. Oh, Cindy and Shelley, not sure if ya noticed it, but he made me the Onion and Tater bin I have in the kitchen - looks like it was made for the kitchen, matches my cabinets.

I also like cast iron items - I have yet to find a cast iron nativity set, though
