I'm in Adair county. The story of the 'haunting' is like this. My brother and his now wife lived in that house with another couple. The couple's 2 year old niece was there a lot. She was always talking about her friend, which I cannot for the life of me remember the name! Anyway, the little girl had come running through the living room and put her head and forearms on the chair. Her legs and all proceeded to lift off the floor into the air slowly, then slowly go back down. Not possible for a two year old! Another story was after my brother's son was born. He would absolutely not be left alone in a room in that house without screaming his head off. After they moved he was fine. Their cat would always look into the corner of the room and raise the fur on its back and hiss at seemingly nothing. Another is when they were moving out of the house (finally). My SIL was going down the stairs and felt 'something' pushing against her back. The final story that I heard regarding them includes my skeptical father. After moving out of the house my brother continued to work for the man. My SIL and my father went to pick my brother up from the guy's barn that was right next to the house. My dad has never believed in that stuff. My SIL says the house is like a train wreck, you just can't help but look at it. Anyway, they were sitting there in the car waiting for my brother. Dad and Mikki were looking at the second story window that was 'her' room. They both saw the curtain pull back like someone was looking out, stay there for a while, then move back where it was. NO wind, no flapping, it just got pulled back.
the house like I said before, still has (as far as I know) shackles in the walls in the attic. The only entrance to the attic is a hidden stairway behind the fireplace in the room that used to be hidden. The only entrance/exit from the original hidden room is a closet in the kitchen with a moveable back wall. So there you go, take it or leave it! I know I am not the biggest fan of that house. It gives me the creeps
