Welcome to BYC and the KY thread! I am not too far from you. I am in Sparta.Hi! Brand new to chickens! I'm in crestwood, ky. Looking for local people and places for chickens and info!
I'm a newbie myself - waiting on my chicks from Meyer's...so there isn't much brain to pick!So excited that there are people nearby! I would love to meet up and pick your brains! I really want to know what I'm getting into before I do this haha.

Quote: Warning!!! Chickens are addictive! I started with 7 Barred Rocks, 6 hens and a roo, about 2-1/2 years ago. I now have 65+/- chickens of 8 different breeds. I have had over 100 chickens at one time. And that doesn't count the turkeys or the ducks. You will love having chickens, but you have been forewarned!![]()

I'm already learning that lesson! I was set on ordering 3 chicks...a friend convinced me to order 4 " just in case"...then I decided to drive to pick them up instead of shipping, so I added a chick to my order with my shipping credit. I'm still debating adding a 6th, if they hatch more of what I want. I'm allowed 5 hens & 1 roo inside the city, but I might lose 1 and 5 vs 6..who's counting!Warning!!! Chickens are addictive! Hello all! I'm new here, so I thought I would introduce myself. I live in the great city of Louisville. I'm getting ready to start a small, urban backyard flock & have been really enjoying the information & conversation.
Nice to see such great KY people around!
