Kentucky people

Well, how are all of you doing today ?

Shelley - I saw Loretta trying to mate with Etta yesterday!!

now THAT would be one ugly chicken!!!

For those who don't know, Loretta is a rooster

Loretta came to me last summer - a very confused little chicken, who thought it was a hen, then it thought it was a roo, then a hen again, now it is convinced it is truly a rooster - it's a modern game mixed with (I think) oegb. Loretta towers over most of the banties, but is still smaller than George, my large fowl oeg. (Etta, btw, is a bantam cochin)

Loretta will stand on the perch above everyone and aim poo at them (and you, if you happen to be in the line of fire). Loretta can shoot poo a good 4 foot with accuracy and velocity that will make the other banties run for cover. I think he does this just for grins. I've never seen a chicken poo like that - it isn't normal chicken poo. But, he has done this as long as I've had him, so I am assuming that for Loretta, it is normal

.

He is amusing enough to keep around for the laugh factor, but annoying enough (and I only have ONE of him, thank goodness) to make him unnecessary.

Maybe I should change his name to Howitzer....

Well.... I thought with the others gone, the two remaining Goonies would settle down - if anything, they were worse, so I caught them today (dumb luck they went into the coop and I happened to be there) and they are gone, finito, hasta la vista.

I also broached the subject (last night) of getting rid of those two, and having a pair of geese in the spring

He didn't say a word about the geese, except to say, "Yeah, sell those nasty guineas, they're disrupting the laying hens." (which they are.)

oops, got business happening, be back

Hey, I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I know I did. Nice little BB hens there in your pics chicknmama, I'm a sucker for OEGB's LOL. If someone could help me with uploading pics to here, I'll show you some of mine. Thanks!

Ok, back.

Neighbor stopped by to pick up another 4 dozen eggs (all I had).
I can't wait to get more hens laying, I got more demand than I got eggs. He wanted 5 dozen (when I talked to him the other day), just couldn't do it.

By next fall I'll have at least 30 hens laying, though. Maybe more, depends on if Hubby wants to build me another coop

(he already hinted at it, if I need one - I'm trying to avoid the cost of it, though.)

Heelerdawg - I made a photobucket account, then I upload to that (and size it for forums) then copy and paste the url to an IMG tag in my post. Photobucket is free to get, and it comes in handy sometimes. You can also upload directly to BYC, but I haven't ever done it, so I don't know how.

I need to organize my photobucket, though, cause I am up to about 20 pages

and I have a hard time finding stuff, sometimes.

If you have photos uploaded to your computer and saved on it to upload them on here just go to the toll bar above and click on uploads.

You will see a box with browse on it. Just click on the browse button and it will take you automatically to where your photos are stored on your computer. From there just click on the photo you want and then click the open box at the bottom of the screen. It will take you back to the uploads screen. Then just follow the directions there to upload.

Other than that, not much going on. My brother and his family are here from TX. They and dad are leaving tonight to go to IN for a few days. Can you say PARTY??? lool, I wish!! I don't know enough people around here for that! But it's not completely a free-for-all. I get to dog sit...I just hope she doesn't steal my bed too much. 'She' is a 2-year-old Great Dane...last night I watched her while my bro and his went to visit in-laws. I had no room for me on the bed until they got back! That dog and the kid were hogging it all!! gig

lau.gif
, don't feel bad, Toby hogs the bed, too - and he is much smaller than a great dane - he just thinks he deserves all that room.

Has your dad's egg production picked up at all? Out of the 6 hens I got from him, I average 5 eggs a day in that coop (sometimes 6 a day).

Oh, did ya see where Hubby told me to go ahead and order my Delaware chicks??? coolness, major coolness.

I finally found an egg basket I want, the auction ends sunday - hope I get it, it's pretty, and BIG.

hmmm... what else.....

I'll have to ponder a bit....

your turn....

meri

Dad gets at most 9 eggs a day from his still 30 something hens. But he doesn't have a light on them, and they are overcowded, and living in a mud pit. I wouldn't lay eggs either if it were me!

And I did see that he gave you the ok!

So you aren't going to bother with hatching any then?
