Kentucky people

Hi I live in Louisville and have had chickens for a year now. Boy have I learned a lot! Quite a bit from BYC and the rest was from experience. Still learning. I am looking for silkies near me, I'm finding they are hard to come by. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can find some? I want a mix of colors for pets. Thanks!
check the west ky poultry group, tri - state poultry group, and west ky poultry/farm on facebook. There are lots of people with beautiful silkies for sale

I am one of those ppl who swears they will never have guines! My chicken friend has a bunch of them and I truly see no purpose in the bird besides they make the most loud awfulest screech I've ever heard! They are neat looking ill give them that but just the thought of having to hear that noise squawking at my bed room window every single night keeping me up is enough to keep me far far away! My friends also run free! He can't catch the little devils no matter what he tries! Oh and did I mention they poop everywhere???!! I do mean everywhere! The roof, the car, the kids toys, the neighbors car, the windows on the house?!?, the porch steps! Etc Honestly why do people keep guines? What's the positives about them?
I was the same way. One day my daughter and I went to rural king and she saw polka dot guinea chicks...keets...whatever. She pitched a hissy and made a good point...I already clean chicken poop off of everything and how much noise could ONE guinea make. Well...now we have a polka dot guinea with the most beautiful feathers and sleek pretty body...and the absolute UGLIEST feet and head with floppy weird things dangling from her jaws like old lady cheeks and a hairy unicorn horn growing out of it. She thinks she's a chicken...even has a brooder mate that has paired with her and even making her sounds. She is usually quiet, unless she gets scared or when ever everyone runs off and leave the poor ugly thing behind. Other than that, she fun to watch and aggravate, and she eats a ton of ticks. Would I ever get more? No. I'm fine with just the one. But I'm glad I got one. Now I'm just hoping for one of those horrid unholy spawns of satan looking Frankenstein guinea/chicken hybrids.

Hi Kristian, There are tons of folks who feel the same way you do about the Guinea. There are positive aspects to them also. Here is and article you might enjoy on them>> http://chickenreview.com/guinea-fowl

Do you have a pic of him? I'm in Hardinsburg (Breck county) and looking for a new rooster for my EE pen. But I am a picky butt. Lol ETA I have a Cochin hen available Edited by sonderah - Yesterday at 8:56 pm This is about a month old I'll try to get a better one I'm closer to Howevalley.
Thanks! I'd like a pic of his face to if possible? He does have some nice colors! From what I can tell, he has white & grey?? Or is that just shadows on the white? Does he have a pea comb?

I have a black one who is about 1 1/2 yrs old. Or I have 2 pullets who are not laying yet, about 3 1/2-4 months. They are red with some colored feathers coming in on their wings. I have old pics of the 2 young ones, but I haven't seen them in a few weeks, so they may look a little different now. I'm out of town until the 1st of August.

Thanks I think I am still trying to figure out what I want. I have a black and a partridge hen, a blue chick. I really like buff and splash.
I like the buff and splash to but I am having a hard time finding them around our area. If I do find they, the are very poor quality.
