I'm gonna try putting her back out with the others tomorrow - she seems to not be such a wuss lately. Maybe she has a little confidence now, she can fight back when they step on her

of course, she may be back inside before tomorrow is done with - we'll see.

I have figured out what she sounds like - a Guinea Pig!!

Nite Cindy, I've been debating on going to bed for about an hour now, but it is so quiet! sort of. Dad has a hoochie mama friend of his 'staying' here now. One BF kicked her out, and the other BF won't take her back. Our lovely county hsa no type of shelter for women, so she is up the creek so to speak. Lucky for us, we happened to be on our way to town and saw her walking on the road

Dad is just too nice for his own good. They won't shut up, which means I can not open my door. If I can't open my door it will be too hot in here, and I won't be able to sleep anyway. I don't know why he didn't just stick her in my brother's camper. We have an electric heater, and with the size of that camper she would be comfortable enough!

Personally I would have just kept driving, but that's me!

I ought to get off here, myself, I've ignored poor hubby since he got home (I even threw him a subway sandwich for dinner then came in here to be online

)

poor guy spent all day in court, and he has to go back tomorrow, and here I am chatting with other folks, and not him

Oh, btw - I had one of those soft pretzels at the Subway at Walmart today - one with cinnamon sugar on it - it was GOOD!! gonna have to get me another one tomorrow. Never had one with cinnamon sugar on it.

I've never had the cinnamon ones either. I'm a regular pretzel with cream cheese dip type myself...YUM!! I forgot walmart had soft pretzels there! I'll have to get one to nibble on next time I go!

Oh btw, the dr. upped Cris's meds to twice a day. He was going to change it completely, but he decided he'd rather do this first. That should make his stupid teacher happy. Probably not. She seems like a 'children should be seen and not heard' type. She is only the assistant, but she acts like she runs the show. And the real 'teacher' just plays along, doesn't really say anything to her, unless it is in private. Somehow I doubt that. She acts like a 'don't rock the boat' type. GRRRR...

now ya sound like ME this week

Well this woman aggravates the crap out of me. She does it to herself! Instead of getting her own place, she blows all her money on whomever she is with. Then cries about it when they beat her up or kick her out, whichever it may be. Like tonight, she decided to go to church with dad. She never has to my knowledge, but she has also never lived here. Then dad says she got 'saved'? Yeah right. It is just an act for her to get dad to 'approve' of her better. She blew all her cash on the guy she was living with, and she's on disability, so she will be broke till next month. I've got news for her and him though. I am the one that buys the food here, it is bad enough that dad doesn't pitch in. I'll be da**ed if I'm feeding another freeloader!

yep, and as long as people enable her to be a leech, she'll continue to do as she is doing

I've known a few folks like that

I can't count the number of times my brother has been saved (and changed churches) so they will pay his bills, run him all over town (he doesn't drive) etc...

Man is it icky out there!!! cold, windy - piece of siding blew off the house, will have to get that back up soon.

I got to go meet Roger at 11:30 at his house, so we can go get those hens. He only lives 10 miles from me, but it takes me about a half hour to get to his place, because it is down the 768 - which is one of the most winding roads I've ever been on. Then I got to come halfway out the 768, then take him back home that half, then come home

this is gonna take me half the day!! But it'll be worth it, I need the chickens, so I'll do it.

I hope it isn't this cold Friday night, so I can go to Sano.

Still just three chicks, Cindy, but it looked like two were moving, so ya may have a couple of them hatch yet - that would be weird, being hatched so far apart, but it is colder out, so I can understand why it might happen. She's still sitting tight on the nest, probably just to keep the babies warm. I was thinking of putting a box with soem hay in it out there for them to have as a nest, so if one gets knocked out of the nest, it can get back in easier if it's on the floor.

I'll check into that when I get back from getting the other hens - like I said, right now she is sitting tight, so it isn't an issue so much. Just the one chick got knocked out the one time, and it has stayed put ever since. I have the door mostly shut, just propped open so the other hens can squeeze in or out, and the heat lamp is on right next to her. I'm so tempted to lift her, babies and unhatched eggs and bring them all inside.

hubby wouldn't mind too much, probably. I'd have to put the orps back into the cage, though, so I may wait til I have a larger cage free (after gathering chickens).

Hmmm, I wonder if I just put them in the brooder bin out in the coop if that would be better - it would keep any breeze off the babies, and she could get in or out if she wanted to. It would also keep them drier if the rain came in under the walls. The other coop is more rain tight than this one is.

I'll try that first, and see if it works ok with the other hens running around in there. I'd rather not have to bring her inside if she has to go back out again into the cold before spring (and she will have to go back out before spring

).

Well, gonna go check mail and the like - see ya later today.

I think they'll be fine where they are until she starts getting them off the nest. She'll keep them warm. Her instincts would be her guide. If you don't have any hatches today you may want to sneak in tomorrow night with a flashlight and check the eggs. There is only like 5 left isn't there? Shouldn't take so long as to upset her. Course you'd have to turn off the heat lamp to so she doesn't see you sneaking.
