Hey Tyler has your Guinea come back yet? I wonder if there are any Guinea breeds that are nice? Our Guinea is mean as a snake. And calculating...He plans before he charges the chickens, you can see him thinking before he does it.

Quick question. My 7 pullets will be 6 weeks old tomorrow, when can I move them out of the brooder and outside to the coop/run?

Or do I have to wait a couple more weeks until they turn 8 weeks old before putting them outside?
I won't be able to supply them with any additional heat either.

Not yet, but I will start to thanks for the advice, I'd forgotten about the light thing, they are still in a 55 Gallon Aquarium at the moment.

Pine shavings is not toxic, who told you that? I have had all my quail on pine shavings, and haven't lost any of them!

You can keep up to a trio of buttons in a 10 gallon fish tank, but it is better to have more room for them to keep them happy.

Oh, and not only can you keep them inside, it is an almost must!!! You can put them outside in the spring and summer, but once it gets colder they need to be inside, unless you plan on keeping a heat light on them.

The duckies know the routine now - made hubby laugh yesterday. Every morning I let them out of their pen and pull the food, water and doghouse out. Every evening I put it all back in and tell them it's time for bed, and they go into the pen on their own.

This morning, I did all the morning routine - except I forgot to let the chickens out right after. instead I went to feed donkeys first. Little girl ducky had a hissy fit quacking at me, following me to the donkey pen, quacking quacking quacking.... so I went and let the chickens out, and she ran over to them and chattered away - having a morning chat with a couple of hens. After that she was fine.

maybe I need to let the chickens out first, then let the ducks out. Of course, then she would probably quack until I let HER out, and still make noise in the morning

. I don't mind, she always stops whenever she gets whatever it is she was wanting.

Oh, I got my taxidermied Puffer Fish yesterday !! it is cool looking (it is a porcupine one). It's on a little string, so I can hang it up from the ceiling

It's about 5 inches diameter - a nice sized one. Not too big, not too small. I ordered one for my sister, too, for Christmas (when she comes down this spring we're exchanging gifts).

hmm... what else....

Friday weather is looking decent, so I'll be going to Sano (unless hubby has jury duty, again). Shelley, I can let ya know if I'm going, and I can bring the japs with me. I usually leave Sano to go home by 5 o'clock or so, though, when they all go inside to the auction. I'm only there an hour this time of year - too cold to stand around shivering just to stand there. Come summer I'll stand around half the night, but right now - brrrrrr.

I'm thinking of taking a trio or maybe just a pair of bantam cochins - not sure which ones, but the white and the golden laced seem to have taken a liking to Rudy (and he has been kinder to them during breeding

he was very rough at first) so It'll probably be Hoss and one of the blacks - or both blacks. I may just sell a pair, since I have such a wide range of colors, I want to have some variety of babies.
Unless Cindy wants Hoss, of course, then she gets first dibs - since I got Hoss from her, and she mentioned having a white to breed him with. (bold added to get Cindy's attention

No eggs yet out of any of the cochin girls, though

what's up with that?

well, gonna go cruise around a bit.

I'll take any of the black girls you don't want, just let me know how much and when you will need it. I will most likely need to go to the bank anyway.

We should be at Sano by 3:30 ish this week, since I am taking a lot of roos, and dad is too I guess. Might get better money for them if I sell them myself. Least I wouldn't have to pay the auctioneer.
