Thanks! Connie has some really pretty, nice quality chickens. Her pens are all extremely clean (way cleaner than mine lol) and her birds were all so big and healthy. Not a single sneeze or sickly looking bird out of the zillion chickens she has. She's got at least 4 incubators filled with eggs right now! I can't wait to see what else she hatches out. She had the most beautiful Polish chickens breeding--gold laced, buff laced, white crested black, and white ones. We got the only Polish chicks she had at the moment. TubbyChicken got a tiny buff laced and I got the white one in the picture. Princess Chicken.

Connie's birds were all so well taken care of and she was very patient with us. She has some gorgeous roosters. If I were able I'd be buying breeding pairs from her!

I wish she'd had more chicks when we were there...but that could have been dangerous. I think we bought two of almost everything she had for sale and we mulled over the chicks for a loooooooong time.

She's in Versailles and her number is....859-797-2300 Please tell her Carolina referred you.

(She has some hens and roos for sale but she won't sell any hens without roos...)

Does anyone have chicks for sale close to the Lexington area?

If so, please post here...I'm leaving tonight and would love to find a few more chicks to take back with me. I doubt I'll be able to check my PMs but I can hop on BYC at Andora's house to see any replies....

If you have any or know anyone who does PLEASE let me know!!!! Feed my addicition. I need enablers.

I just picked up a barred rock yesterday! Is the Silver Penciled chick a Wyandotte? I might be interested in that!

Go Marans, Go! You think there might be a chance some may be ready before this evening? Where are you located again?

I'm in Lexington now but will be heading to Pikeville this evening. Are you anywhere near the Mountain Parkway?

Heya -

Well, I went to the feedstore today (and dropped my truck off at the Ford Dealer to get it fixed

)

They didn't have any Light Brahma today, but they are getting more chicks every monday for the next three weeks. I'll just go back and check periodically to see if any came in.

I did get....
10 Black Australorp
10 Buff Orpington
10 Partridge Rock

and the 5 cornish cross I had ordered to test for meat purposes.

I already have a lot of chicks in that room and I got those others coming. I need another playpen - I love the playpen for brooding, it's so easy to set up and take down and store.

I'm thinking once the others get here, I'll definately have to take some of them to Sano to sell as chicks - cause I won't have room for all of them when they start to grow out. Hubby likes to take them out there after they are bigger - I'm thinking this time of year it won't matter so much people are gonna want babies perhaps sicne it is warming up a bit.

One thing I noticed was that the hatchery chicks are so much smaller than my home hatched mutt babies. All of the babies I hatched out yesterday are much bigger than the ones I got today.

I had one baby hatch out this morning that is probably not gonna make it. He's been out for about 5 hours, and still is laying on his back, can't right himself, and can't seem to unbend one of his legs. He's a dark one out of George's coop (the last of George's eggs I'll be setting). I think he just had issues before he even hatched, the others all popped out ready to rumble, even the other George babies.

They had baby duckies at the feedstore too

I didn't get any - I still have some to find homes for. They had some swedish, some pekin and some rouen. They seemed pretty small, too, compared to my babies I had gotten from ideal.

I found a lady in there who has Muscoveys she's willing to sell me for 5 bucks each (adults, breeders). She's over by Knifley, and I got her number - as soon as that pen is done I'm gonna call her and get some. She says she just has way too many and they'll start breeding soon and she'll have even more

My son would absolutely DIE if he saw that chick!! He loves different looking chickens.

I'm supposed to be getting some polish bantam eggs soon, if I have the money for them. We'll see.

I also went to the feed store today. Those baby ducks were so tiny, I thought they were calls!!

I don't remember any of my babies being that tiny! I wasn't going to buy any chicks, cause they didn't have bantams in yet. However, they did have black cochins. We already have one black hen, and my son loves the feather-footed breeds, so I was gonna buy 1 or 2 cochin chicks. Well it turns out that the 5 free with purchase thing works for chick starter or flock raiser!! Since I use flock raiser for my chicks, ducks, and quail, I went ahead and got a bag, and 5 baby black cochins!!

I can't wait till he gets home so I can show them to him. He will be ecstatic!

Those duckies were small - mine were small when they came, but not that small I don't think.

I considered some cochins, to sell at Sano, but I figured I'd stick to the dual purpose breeds. Plus, I can keep some of these ones to add to my own flock.

I've never seen a partridge rock in person, but Cinnabon (my easter egger) is partridge pattern, so I'm thinking they'll look like her only fatter. She is very streamlined - not skinny, just narrow bodied. I'm not sure if I'll keep any of the Partridge rocks, or just sell all of them - we'll see when I start picking and choosing who stays and who goes.
I like how the Rocks lay well, and are a good sized and body shape.

With all those chicks in my hatching room, however, I have to say the ones who make the loudest noise (cut through your head noise) are those cornish cross chicks - this one chick just won't shut up. And he's not hurting, not cold, he is just standing there peeping.

I'm wondering how many Cornish Crosses I'll get in that "leftover mix" I'm getting this week.
