I presume this is in TN. or is this on/near the KY/TN border?

Did anyone go to the swap in Frankfort last weekend? I was intending to go, but had some things come up that caused a change in plans.

CW, no you didn't lose things, they did a major upgrade to the board's servers and turned out there were a few glitches, like losing the message counts, and certain words are changed by the computer to another word.

Welcome back

Well I havent posted in a while. I have been very busy. I was on vacation last week. And got a lot done. I built 3 chicken tractors. I get better every time. I know everyone wants pictures. My computer at home has been really weird. I am thinking virus. But I run Nortons?? I would start a program and my computer would restart?? So there was alot of my time.
But our flock is growing by leaps and bounds. We hatched out about 130 chicks 3 weeks ago. Barred Rock, Cochins, and a couple of Silkies. Then I ordered from Cackle that were delivered last Wednesday. Polish, Cochin, and more Silkies. And to top it off the incubator is due to hatch out this Sat. 240.

Everytime I think I have enough chicken buildings, I decide I need another. We may actually have to go ahead and sell some.

We were wanting to watch this bunch actually grow.
I guess I better get back to work. I will check in later.

hi everyone...

I didn't go to the frankfort sale, but I am curious what it was like. We're hoping to make it there for the sale this month.

We ordered a bunch of chicks from Cackle and Meyer. The Cackle chicks, 19 light brahmas, arrived this morning. We're still waiting on Meyer. Which is weird, since they shipped on Monday and Shelbyville is only five hours away from Meyer's hatchery in Ohio. I hope that they're all okay. We've ordered more buff orpingtons to go along with the BO's we already have at home, as well as five black jersey giants, from Meyer.

The Scottsville sale is way out in the country off of Highway 100 going toward Scottsville<Ky. It is huge ,Last time I was there they had two auctioneers going at it all day and that was just on poultry, 7 other auctioneers sold machinery, household stuff, etc.Just about any kind of poultry you would want goes thru there as well as small animals. It starts at nine but you need to get there way early to find paring, they usually open up a field but its always muddy.

Is the auction just for their birds..or can I also take some to be auctioned??
Thanks for the info! If you could give directions..that would be wonderful. I know as far as the Scottsville exit off the parkway. I can use Yahoo maps to get to Scottsville..but then where?

How old are they? Barred rocks are pretty easy...as they feather out, the cockerels will be lighter than the pullets. Cochin cockerels should have a redder comb and more developed wattles than a pullet and you may as well wait on the Polish. They are difficult to sex. Do you have any pics? You can check for signs of comb/wattles on the Polish but even that isn't a guarantee...once they are feathered out, the roos will eventually grow toothpick like sprouts in their crest, but you have you to wait until 4+ weeks to tell anything and it could be much longer. What type do you have? I love Polish! I have a little buff laced roo suspect in my brooder right now.

Hey Guys,
I am in need of a Gold Laced Bantam Cochin roo. I need a red, silver laced, and a white as well. I don't think I have one in all the chicks I ordered. I have an extra barred or 3, Mottled, and blue if anyone wants to trade. (Roos that is) Give me a shout! I have Jersey Giant chicks, White faced black spanish chicks with good white faces, and some cochin chicks (lots of colors) Located in Berea but work in Lexington.
