Kentucky people

I'm here, finally got to go to Sano this week - sold about half of what I took with me, and brought home 6 call duck babies, and two huge long feeders.

btw - Croney, I have call duck babies, if ya still want some - I have blacks and splashes, and may have others, but not sure. I had 4 whites hatch, but I want to keep a trio if possible, so I will have to wait to see what the extra white is.

I hatched a black and a blue and the four whites that lived - and one white that died. The sixth duckie baby I had forgotten when I put the eggs in the bator, so it was pipped in the incubator this morning - I put it into the hatcher really quickly and it was hatched out of it's shell within an hour - I was pretty happy for that. It turned out to be a blue baby.

The babies I got tonight at Sano are all for sale - they look to be about three or four days older than the ones I just hatched, so no more than a week old.

Mom and stepdad are still here. They are kicking back tonight over at the boy's trailer, watching TV.

I've been dealing with them (company) and my brother called yesterday to say that they found my dad dead - he'd been dead for a week, already. I still need to go find the obituary online. (he was in Kansas).

So, it looks like I have a long confusing "thing" to deal with on that - We just recovered from dealing with hubby's parents dying and all that is involved with that (three years ago). It'll probably be a mess, since he was in Kansas, and I'm here in KY, and the rest of the family is in Michigan. I hate dealing with Lawyers - especially over the phone.

I need a vacation from my family's vacations

Jose' take me away.

I'm not devestated or anything - truth be told, I havent spoken to him since I was 12 (his choice, I would made the effort if he had).

However, other than my Uncle Jerry, no one else in his family is left alive, so any inheritance is to be split between my brother, sister and I. Apparently, the man was not poor - but no idea how much he had (I know he had some land, and bank accounts - I have to call the lawyer monday).

The reason it took so long for someone to find him was A) he had cut himself off from all of us, B) his brother lives in Texas and C) he was the type of person to be left lying dead for a week before anyone noticed (probably the mailman noticed his mail hadn't been picked up.)

So, I guess I have mixed feelings on the whole affair. On the one hand, I don't hate the man, and I forgive him his faults and the things he did. I hope he at least made peace with himself later in life, since he chose not to make peace with his family. On the other hand, he had a chance to contact me (or any of us) and make amends, and didn't choose to - so dying alone is his own doing.

I haven't had the chance to talk my my Uncle, yet, so I'll know more when I do - he contacted my brother, who is worthless at this sort of thing (and another candidate for being dead for a week before anyone notices). Unfortunately, Jerry only knew my brother's full name and did not know mine or my sister's married last names, so he contacted my brother first. (my mother also re-married, so he didn't know her married name). Hopefully my brother won't be stupid enough to sign any paper that shouldn't be signed.

Meri, I am sorry for your loss. If there is anything I can do, please feel free to call upon me and I'll do what I can.

Hopefully, he left a will detailing how his estate is to be administered/distributed. Otherewise you'll have to do battle with the state.

Ohhh, woww... I can really relate.

Sorry to hear about your dad Mojo. Hope it can be worked out with the minimum of trouble.

Teresaann24: Where are you located. My nephew is wanting some Delaware hens. He has too many roos. I could trade some silkies for them. Or cash.

With Miss Jayne visiting here and there in our neck of the woods, and Flowerpot's, Epona's and my recent get together with some of the other BYCers down in Columbia I was wondering if there was any interest in a bunch of us getting together for barbeque/picnic once school is out and before the families take off for vacations.

Oh by the way, my little black cochin roo is getting his crow together. He's a little hoarse sounding at the moment, but definitely getting louder!

He is definitely ready to go to his new home. Both my Mille Fluer hens have gone broody on me as well as my OEBG hens, and an undecided Silky hen.

My cochin (bantam) roo hardly ever crows! I wonder if your neighbors would notice if you had 2 roosters? Maybe you need to bribe them with eggs? Or con them into letting you keep one of the roos at their place

I would be all for a get-together, if Meri or someone else in my area were going. I only have dad for transportation, and his truck acts like it is going to fall apart most of the time!

We could finally have a 'chicken stock'

I don't know when the last time was that we had one, but I know I've never been to one.

Shelley, the cochin roo is going to Flowerpot, she said she needed a black bantam cochin roo. I may just send the black cochin pullet with him. I already have two roos, Samson, my OEGB roo and Ricky my Partridge Silky roo (I was told they were self blues, turns out they are actually partridge)

When is everybody's children out of school for the summer? If we could set a date now, I can start the planning and making sure all the little details are taken care of. So how about Saturday June 13th or June 20th? That is almost 2 months away from now, and should be plenty of time to get it all together.

I was just wondering as some of the kids have to make up the "snow" days from the ice and wind storms of last winter.

I would love a get together. But June 6th is the miniature horse sale near me and June 20 is the chicken auction at the miniature horse sale barn (that I am hoping some of you guys will come to). June 13th would be a possibility. But any later than that I would be working weekends through the end of July. Pulaski County is out the end of this week, but I am not sure if Cindy's boy goes to Pulaski Co or the city school. If there is a city school.
The chicken auction I am speaking of is the 1st one they are have had. They have been having miniature horse and donkey sales for a couple of year now. He is a friend of the family and some of us has talked him into having a chicken/small animal auction. It is scheduled for June 20th. It is on the border of Pulaski and Rockcastle line on highway 70. Close to Broadhead. So if anyone has anything for sale around then will have to try it out. Meri/Shelley you guys would come up the parkway into Somerset and follow 39. I can give you guys better directions if you can come.
Well gotta get to work.
