I think I might be interested in some hatching eggs. PM me price on a dozen or so. I am interested in the Jersey Giants, Australorps and Standard Cochins. So like a some of each if you have them available. I could probably pick them up July 18th.

Shelley and Meri We are going to be painting the coop today... Barn red w/white trim on the outside, tangy yellow(Cortnis choice) on the inside. I think we should paint white daisies with barn red centers on the walls inside.

So sometime next week I'll be up that way, I'll let you know ahead of time.

Oh, of the three chickies I had in the garage for heat related issues, I lost one of them (the worst off one) this morning. Poor thing just didn't recover.

The other two look good, almost ready to put them back into the coop. One of them is one of my young barred rock pullets - I definately didn't want to lose her, she is looking very perky (and getting that naughty look back into her eyes) so I am sure she's gonna pull through.

I just cannot believe this heat so early in the year - doesn't it usually hold off on this nasty heat until late July or something??? I thought I had more time to make my summer adjustments to the coops (like the screen doors that need repairs).

Well, it still beats the heck out of Michigan Winters.

It is hotter than normal I think. It is unbelievable how muggy it is out there!

Well peeps, I have 5 more baby guineas so far, and so far 22 baby quail. I swapped some quail eggs with macnugget a few weeks ago, got 24 eggs and had 22 hatch. Then I won eggs from sweetshoplady. She sent 6 guinea eggs. 5 have hatched and the other is working on it! These weren't supposed to hatch until Monday, they were going to go to my game hen, Gretta. I guess she'll get to have some babies instead of some eggs! I just hope she accepts them, she is kind of funny. I might just let her do without and keep them inside, but it would be easier to integrate them into the flock if they have a chicken mama. There are 3 lavender and 2 pearl so far. I don't like pearls, so these will be for sale

But the lavenders are mine!!

however, I have two others who I believe (honestly) are pregnant, because of the way their bellies are shaped - I got them back in the fall last year, and the one may be due by end of July - since her baby (who we also have) was born around then.
