Kentucky people

Okay, so I couldn't resist... Just got done e-mailing with the lady I got my beautiful B/B/S Am eggs from last year that hatched a blue and a Splash pullet(both of which were killed in last yrs dog attack), and have broken down and decided to buy a pullet off her. It was actually really nice of her to sell me one because she didn't have to she breeds them for show and for selling the hatching eggs. So this will be probably the most expensive chicken I've ever bought as shpg is 65.00 for FedEx.

Shelley I'm still buying the R/W/B EE pullet from you though, and if Meri still has the Cochin and BA for me my count will be up to 5 including BC. Well, looks like I'm gonna have to try to find a white egg layer now to complete my rainbow of eggs.

Have I mentioned in any of my posts how excited I am right now?!!!

I have been lurking for a while. A lot of great info and pics here. I am from Union Kentucky. Does anyone know where I can find 5-6 Barred Plymouth Rock hens or any other cold weather hens around NKY?

I didn't know you wanted the cochin

good thing I held onto her.

She looks just like Nana - only she's gonna be a big girl.

Maybe once I talk hubby into two more coops, and get the breeder flocks going, I'll get some cochins again. Not the banties, though, I'm thinking the big ones are the way to go

And yes, you'll definately have to sneak in a Buff Orpington (and maybe a Light Brahma, too

farrier! :

emvickrey, I would love to meet you at the sale. It is about 1/2 way and sure would save me a drive...

I know nothing about it either.

Here is my list from oldest to youngest:
1 Dom Roo
1 New Hampshire Roo
2 SLW hen
1 BR Hen
1 BO hen
1 JG (I think) hen
1 rsl hen
All these are a year old and the hens are laying eggs everyday

4 month olds all hens
8 RIR
1 EE
1 solid white, I dn't know her breed
1 mixed roo of mine, he looks to be mixed with SLW and Dom
1 mixed hen of mine, she's red

2 monoth olds all hens
1 of my mixes she is red
2 that that are red with white on wing feathers, one of these is injured

Then some chicks that hatched on May 26th
1 LO pullet, she has pink on the ends of her toes
1 mixes that are black with white spots, one is a roo I think
1 roo that is one of my mixes that looks like the older 4 month old

I"m going to try to bring as many as I can. I don't really have the cages to bring them all. I'll probably have to give away the roos as it seems it has been a Roo season for everybody. They are very nice birds though. My New Hampshire is mean. I let him out of his pen to get a little excercise and to eat fresh gras and bugs and whatever and all he eanted to do was fight with the Dom roo through the run fence and made his comb a bit bloody, the moron. They used to be in the same coop with the girls but he was way to aggressive on them. He did damage to the girls. In my opinion, he belongs in a stew pot but I just don't want to clean him. He may calm down if he is the only roo with the girls, I don't know

If I sell all the chickens I will sell the coop too, but who ever buys it will have to come and take it apart and haul it off. We are going to move when we find a good place

I also have a St Bernard dog that I would like to get a rehoming fee for and a female Lab that is about 4 years old. She is very chicken friendly, stranger friendly, dog friendly kid friendly. She would lick a robber to death. Not a mean bone in her body. The St Bernard is the same way but he will get the chickens if given the chance. He's not trying to kill them, its more like they are squeeky toys. He hasn't killed any of mine but it came close. We got them away. The lab will chase a cat, squirrel and does hunt becaue we have lived in the country all her life and she always runs free. She doesn't tear anything up or drag garbage in or out of the yard. Her only bad habit is digging a hole to lay in. It doe'st really matter whre either, It can be your garden or under your porch where ever it is cooleset. I guess thats a dog thing though. When she's in the house she will lay down the entire time unless she hears somebody clanging dishes or she needs to potty. She will sit and stare at you. WE don't leave her in all night for this reason becuae staring doesn't wake us up and she will leave you a preent if she don't get outside. The St we havn'et broght inside, he is too big. He is about 125 lbs. He has to live in a pen to keep him away from the 5 chickens we let roam. He lays all say under his Lean-to with his fan on h im. He really ins't meant for this kind of heat. Both dogs have been spayed and neutered. The St takes meds.

Please somebody tell me they are interested.

Hey Cindy, I have that young game/phoenix mix still. She should lay white eggs once she starts laying. I can't remember if she is from my game hen or dad's, so I don't know what size egg she will lay. I'm thinking she's from dad's, she is pretty small.

Do you have a pic of her? I am into phoenix. What is she mixed with, do you know? I need a full blooded one but depending on what its mixed with I may be interested if your wanting to sell or trade or rehome

Her mama is a wheaton old english, her daddy is a bb red phoenix. I think I have a pic, let me check.

I'm pretty sure she is from my dad's wheaton hen, my hen is a bb red old english, and is bigger than my dad's hen. But this girl looks like a bb red.
