Meri, does that mean you are getting rid of Feathers? If so, I'd prefer to come and get him back (even if it upsets the neighbors). I love that little guy and hate to think he might end up being eaten. Just let me know!
yes, unfortunately, I have to get rid of him also. I'd be glad to hang onto him for you for whenever you can make the trip - he isn't causing a problem, or anything. (except he is always stealing my cigarette when I am in the run and smoking
)
I figured if you didn't want him back I would find a good home for him - free - as long as someone gave him a nice place with "some womens to hang with". I didn't really plan on getting rid of any of them just yet, but anytime you want to come by, you are welcome to.
I was thinking to wait until the pullets are all laying (hopefully in another month or so)
I had considered letting Mr. Speckles go for free, to the right person. I just don't want either of them to end up as dinner, I'd keep them if that were the case. They are both such wonderful roos, they need to have girlies and breed more babies. If I have to charge an outrageous price to make sure someone really wants him, I could put a high price on him, too. I guess that would be better than free - a free roo is more likely to become dinner than a high dollar roo.
Hubby is already waffling on Mr. Speckles - he likes him and hates to get rid of him - I asked if he planned to build me a coop just for Mr. Speckles - he didn't answer that one
I hate to get rid of either of them, but economically, I'm better off limiting my breeders and my different types of chickens.
The only reason I'm keeping the three cochins is because I can put them into the brooder coop and they'll get along with any babies I toss in there. Otherwise, I wouldn't have a coop for them, either.
I feel really badly about Feathers - since you drove all that way to give him to me so he had a good home. If you cannot take him back, I promise he'll have a good home, if it takes me a year to find one for him. But, of course, you are always welcome to come get him if you prefer.
