My buff bantam rocks were sleeping in the duck house for a long time.

I didn't make them go into the coop, because they were reasonably safe there - but I finally caught them one night and put them in for three days (when I wormed everyone) and after they got back out, they tried one time to sleep in the doghouse again, then they started to go into the coop by themselves.

I feel much more comfortable with them in the coop - they are so small, I'd hate to lose them.

ya know... the last time I went to Sano the vets were going around swabbing chicken's mouths - I guess they've had some problems there with folks selling bad chickens (or they finally got enough complaints on it) and they decided to swab them.

They used to just do the bigger animals like the cows and goats and such - that was the first time I ever saw them do chickens.

all I had were really young chickens, so he didn't bother to swab mine (not sure why - must have been the ages?)

sort of makes me happy they're finally (maybe) doing something about some of the chickens that go through Sano. You'd be surprised how bad some of those chickens look.

so far no action on the BBR eggs - I am hoping tomorrow.

I have Shelley's chicken eggs in the hatcher, also - didn't you say (Shelley) the guinea eggs go for 28 days? I know the duck egg goes longer. Is the duck egg 28 days also?

BTW - in case anyone wondered.... I have seceded from the U.S.

and declared my farm to be it's own country.

I still have to work out the new Declaration of Independance for the Republic of Chickenville... but I figure I can use the U.S. Constitution, since D.C. isn't bothering to use it anymore - they won't miss it at all.

If anyone wants to become a Principality of the Republic of Chickenville, let me know, we'll work out a deal

No, ducks and guineas both take 28 days, supposedly, but I've rarely had a guinea egg take more than 25 days. The one time I did, I had moved them to the hatcher on day 21, in anticipation of an early hatch. Then, of course, they took 27-28 days

I wonder if it's the same guy that tried to trade me a pair of Lord only knows whats for my BR? The hen that he wanted to trade me had one eye so swollen that it was completely closed, I haven't seen him at Sano for a while.

That is the main reason why I very very rarely buy anything from Sano. There are way too many sick birds going through there. I never take my birds inside the barn unless they are flat-out not coming home. Any birds that I want a certain amount for stay in or very near the truck, usually in the bed of the truck, if I can help it.

Wonder if he was the guy that bought up all the rabbits that time you and I went to Sano, Shelley. I'm glad they finally caught him and curtailed his activities.

Anyway, work was okay tonight, not to busy for a change. Luckily I am off tomorrow and can get some more stuff done around here.

Are the crumb snatchers out of school again tomorrow for the Columbus Day holiday? I don't think there is any mail delivery either.
