Your OEGBs are not broody? I have 12 hens on eggs right now, at least 8 of them are OEG, OEGB, or some kind of OEG mix.

I may have to get rid of my chickens. I have around 13 large fowl hens, 1 bantam rooster, a Mille Fluer Hen, I bantam hen. I might have to move and won't be able to take them. Free for the taking, you just have to come pick them up.

They are but I can only get 4 to 5 eggs under them and get them to cover them good.I just hatched off 5 black OE this morning from under one of my hens.I want something alittle bigger to set them under. The big hens are so heavy they break the eggs.

Aw chuck... I really hate that for you... Let me know if you don't get everyone rehomed in time and maybe if you can we could meet halfway and I'll take the leftovers to the Casadas. They will have a great spoiled life there.

Just heard the most awful sound!! We were standing in the kitchen, and I heard a chicken scream. I thought it was one of the marans chicks, I left them in their hoop house tonight. I lost one bantam cochin chick in there about a week ago, and had been moving the marans to a more secure cage every night. So I decided to try it again, since we've killed quite a few of the rats.
So Cris and I go running outside towards the hoop house...the sound is coming from the woods, and it is not a chick

Something took that sweet little millie hen right off her nest

I am just about sick of everything. I just can't seem to get ahead, it's like I'm not meant to have these sweet animals

I hate hearing about your loss. Tonight I went out to put up my flock a little later then usual and I found a massacre. I had five layed out over the pin and my lil Roo was all tore up. I lost a White Silkie Hen, Two EE, a RIR Hen, and my Lil Duccle hen. I am not sure what got them. I can not find a place that looks like they went under the fence. I have my live trap set tonight incase what ever it was is still in the weeds. What ever it was I am after its hide now.

Shelley, Jeremy I'm sure sorry to hear about your losses! We've only had our cluckers since March but they really have become pests(oops! I mean pets!). Since the dog kennel pen is not totally secure yet Eva and I only leave them out when one of us is home. I'm curious how close to the house your coops are and what type of fencing you have. I'm trying to do this right but not sure if I'm succeding. I feel certain the henhouse is bulletproof but the kennel may be in question. Also, did your loses happen in daylight or after dark?

Again, I feel for you all. I know how attatched we can get to these critters in a short time.

Larry

Oh my how awful for both of you guys! JCoogle, hope you catch that varmint and start you a trophy wall!
Shelley: is that the Millie you got from us? Gosh wonder what could have got her, wasn't she in the barn? You need a Pyrenees or Burnese mtn dog and let it grow up with the flock.

It must be that time of the season...
We lost 3 birds last weekend. Caught a 'possum and a racoon in the traps (now both deceased). We think the racoon was the real culprit. He cut a hole in the flight netting next to the tree. Of course our three dogs were snoring under the bed.
