That sounds great, and only a 5-minute drive from our place in Glendale. We don't really have anything to swap, but we'll definitely come down and check it out.

The Sonora Farm Supply place is great, and they're able to order organic layer feed, but require a full pallet order up front, which we can't swing all at once.

Well, the time came for us to do something with our 12 17-week-old Barred Rock roos, so I took them down to SS Enterprises in Bowling Green, and was super impressed.

For $3.15/bird, they did all the work, including shrink-wrapping and labeling. Also got all the hearts and livers bagged, and they'll also do feet, necks, etc.

So this on Thursday:

I can provide additional information for anyone who's interested. They're really great folks.

Just got back from taking my poor little batam cochin, cutie pie,to the vets.I think i have the best vet in the world.Anyone that lives in or within driving range of campbell county and need a good vet ill give you my vets number. He really cares about you and your animals, and he doesnt rob you.Poor cutie pie either had a stroke or is having neurological problems from,i believe, one of my big hens smooshing her in a nesting box overnight. He's giving her a 50/50 chance, which is better then i thought he would give her. She's the sweetest chicken i've ever had and it will break my whole families hearts if she doesnt recover.

I would love to show, but have no ideal how to do it. Do I need a show cage? Do my birds need health certificates? My girls are so tame, and of course I think they are beautiful, but what do I know? Education please!

The show cages are provided by the show and you don't need health certificates if you are a KY resident. However, they often have state vets or representatives there to test birds.

Correction, some shows do require health certificates or NPIP testing based on the regulations for each show.

When I called they said they were considering stocking it. Anybody in the area interested in organic feed should definately call and ask them about it. Maybe they will decide its important. At the very least maybe we can go in on it together, though I need to find out what exactly they can get. I like whole grains and soy free. Their number is 270-949-2276

South of Etown. Yeah, the Hardin Co Mill has wheat/corn/oats but I didn't think they would be non-gmo, though I actually never asked about the wheat and oats. That is where I'm currently getting it. I know somebody growing 13 acres of corn that I am hoping to get some of. I was hoping maybe somebody knew somebody who was growing it =o)

We grow it, but dont sell it out privately, however .... that may be an option I'll have to ask about! If your still interested I can ask if we can set some aside. We didnt grow wheat last year, I had to buy some from a neighbor who had some left over, but we are planting this yr I believe.
