Kentucky people

I'm in Hopkins County, Peaceful Nest. So, are you new to chickens, as I am? I've been trying to convince hubby for years that guineas are the ultimate solution for ticks. Even this year (our first) they have helped.

But now I have ticks in my hen house! I assume it's from the hay. They are the teeny ones I guess the chickens and guineas don't notice.
There went my justification for poultry. . .

Hi guys...just tryin to get the hang of this place and already posted in wrong place. LOL...oh me! Either way, I live ouside of Mayfield. I'm a transplant from TN but hub graduated from Symsonia.

Hi! I'm from Northern Kentucky in a small town between Crittenden and Walton. :)

I'm waiting on the delivery of my first incubator and am dieing to try it out. Does anyone locally sell hatching eggs? (I'd rather pick up than deal with the risks associated with shipping hatching eggs- especially on my first hatch!)

Hi Melanie! How are things going? Are your roos behaving themselves? Since I last exchanged emails with you we have bought a Dexter bull to go with our cow! Anyway, I have hatching eggs for Swedish Flower Hens - they are my only pure breed right now. I also have hatching eggs from my EE/OE pen.I have 4 Blue/Splash Wheaten Ameraucana pullets, 2 EE pullets , and 1 OE pullet covered by 3 Blue/Splash Wheaten Ameraucana cockerels, and one OE cockerel (in my avatar). A couple of the Ameraucana pullets have snuck into my spare Swedish Flower Hen roos cage, too, and at least 2 of the Ameraucanas hatched from pink eggs. Should be lots of shades of blue, green and olive eggs and who knows what else

. PM me if you are interested.

Hey Walli!
Really looking forward to meeting you!.... since our messages I've been reading up on the SFH and am more and more excited about them! My roos are doing alright. I've got two 16 week old red star roos that I should really get rid of or make into dinner, but they're still so charming. Much nicer than the EE roo that I was telling you about in our PMs. I'm hanging onto him because he's so danged pretty but he really is a rascal.
