BluRoo, Annie is in Loxahatchee, Fl. She is a founding member/breeder of Key west chickens. I found out about her at The Gypsy Project website. These chickens are VERY hardy. Small, scrappy little birds. Mine do just fine in an outside coop during our winters here. They do have the wind blocked from 3 directions with a tarp but they do fine when our nights drop into the teens occasionally. Only one has ever been sick, my roo got the sniffles once in almost 7 years. I gave him warm low sodium chicken broth with rice for a few days and he was fine. The hens go broody every time the wind blows, and are great mommies. The eggs are medium size with a slight tint to them. If anyone wants to know anything else about them, ask away. Oh,and no, I can't get any and I don't know anyone who can, except on eggbid or somewhere. I would like some more also. I havn't driven down in a few years so I couldn't bring me some.
Yes, pictures please! I have a blue hen, a bbr-ish hen, a wheaten-ish hen, a hen thats white with brown splotches on her body and black splotches on her head and a red and blue roo. All very colorful little birds.
I will try for tomorrow on the pic's, the cockerel is a mille type coloration, one pullet is a darker faced brown and the other is kind of lemon blue, I love these guys
I don't have a link to Annie, just came across her while looking up stuff, sorry. It had something to do with Key west chickens or the gypsy project but never could find it again.
