Unfortunately it didn't end well

.

I was able to catch her. she seemed perfectly normal in every respect with the exception that she was in a constant state of screaming like she was about to die. She ate drank and played with the other ducks normally.

I didn't try craigslist because I didn't think anyone would take her in that state. My neighbors were about ready to kill me after two weeks

This was just a bad experience. The only thing I could think of was that she was in pain...Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

So sad to hear that. Perhaps she had some sort of neurological/mental disorder. Birds in pain tend to go very quiet and still, so as not to attract predators when they are weak. It must have been quite distressing for you to have to hear her like that.
