Khaki Campbell stoped laying!

Are you sure she's not hiding her eggs? If you pick them up every day she might give up on laying in the coop and find a hidden spot to lay.

I don't know about going off feed when molting.

I have three Khaki Campbell ducks that were all laying on November 25, 2014 and had been laying for several months, and all three quit laying the next day. No eggs at all until yesterday, January 21, 2915. Almost 2 months of zilch. I hope to have more eggs today.

Sounds like winter break to me, short daylight usually sets them back. They must be getting started back now since your getting eggs again. They have to take a break periodically or they would wear themselves out in less than 2 yrs.

No eggs tonight. Maybe tomorrow. I hope they start laying again soon. One duck is 8 or 9 months old. The two other layers I don't know. How many years to ducks generally lay? More than two, I hope.

I have 13 Muscovy's 3 of them are going on 11 yrs old last season I got eggs periodically from both females so I'd say you have many years of eggs left. With good nutrition they should lay for many years. .

Thank you Miss Lydia. I feed mine layer pellets. Is there anything else, or better I could feed them?

Good quality laying pellets plus greens. Mine love to forage when there are bugs to eat which I'm sure gives them some protein and they also love romaine lettuce water melon in season They will even eat cabbage and kale chopped. and snacks like thawed green peas and dried meal worms round out the diet here. I do put out extra oyster shell in case someone needs extra calcium too.

Sweet. I will go vegetable shopping for them. I do the oyster shells and give them chicken scratch.
Mine get scratch too, but I make sure to use a 2-1 so they are getting double the layer to the scratch especially during the months they lay.

Get a head of cabbage and hang it in their run or where ever they spend most of their time, boy mine have the best time pulling off pieces and it breaks up the boredom of winter. My chickens and geese like it too. Make sure what ever you use to hang it isn't something they can get down their throats, my ducks aren't too bad for chewing but my geese well they will eat anything even if it isn't edible

I'm going to try that, especially with my Buckeye hens and roosters. They are affable and fun to watch. Ducks have layer pellets 24/7. They prefer to spend most of their time playing in the mud they create. I hate to say it, but my ducks appear to be really stupid fraidy cats. I intend to cut an exit hole in their coop so they can run out through it when I enter to feed them and water them. Right now they have one entrance/exit and freak out when I enter. Will make a duck tractor this spring to move around the yard for them. Love the fresh grass.
