Hi, I was just hoping to get some answers on what happened to my two khaki Campbell ducklings...

I had brought home 3 ducklings to join my already 3 other 3 week old duckling. One of the new ducks was gifted to us because the feed store thought he was missing an eye and they would have to dispose of him. When I got them home I noticed the one they told me was missing an eye appeared to just have a crust over it. I left him be for the first day so he could adjust to his new surroundings. The next day I used a warm compress on his eye and I could see there was an eye behind the lid but it was completely grey and he would not open his lid himself. I again let him go so that he could adjust. The next morning I had seen that he wa starting to open his eye on his own but only for shot periods. I looked into it, and after talking to the people at the feed store I got him terramycin to apply to his eye. I did two treatments that day, and the next day I gave him one in the morning and by the afternoon he was dead. I attributed it to being a possible systematic infection but never saw any signs of him struggling to eat, drink or walk.

After the fist lost we went on watching the other ducklings never seeing any igns of illness within the rest of the flock. Eight days after the first passing we woke up to find another one of the ducklings dead. He again showed no signs of having an issue with eating, drinking, or walking.

I was just trying to see if there was any advice on what I should do for the remaining flock? We now have the 3 original and 1 of the second group of ducklings.

When we first brought the second group home we did separate the two group with a screen so the older ones couldn’t injure the younger. We kept this for two days because they were always snuggling together through the screen. They have always had access to clean water and food. I added photos of the duck that was thought to be blind.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
