Have been put in a position were I have to bottle feed a friends two kid goats, Iv read soooooooo many different opinions online about how much to feed, i just need somebody here to tell me one and make my decision for me 😂please!

Kids are two weeks on the 19th Sunday, one weighs 1kg 800grams the other smaller 1kg 400grams (this one was on deaths door when I got him made a huge turn around 3 days ago with electrolytes and an antibiotic)

Weighed them with my only scale so feel free to convert to whatever you use yourself on Google 😅

They are at the moment getting 4ounces/3.5 ounces every 4hours (5 feeds a day) except 8hours no milk during the night. Some websites say feed them till they are full others say 10% of their bodyweight a day?????

So far they are drinking that much and looking for more after and bouncing around happily, especially the little guy who was so sick with scour and a broken leg when he came to me that he wasent drinking any milk at first for days now he wants gallons it seems 🤔

Please someone just tell me what to go with and in the coming weeks when to up the amount. Thanks 🙂 pics are day 1 and now

Your schedule sounds good. I usually bump by 2oz a week, over a few days, so like day 1, the morning bottle is 6 oz and the rest are 4, day 2, the bedtime bottle goes up to 6, etc. I also cut out one feeding a month, but keep the daily amounts the same. By the time they're ready to wean, my doelings are getting 2 liters, 2x a day which is then transitioned to grain.

What are you feeding ? Raw milk or milk replacer .That makes a difference.I feed what TSC sells Dumor.Works out to be the cheapest.see if you can download the feed schudle.
.6 onces up 9 days old 4 times a day . Now big problem is they drink to fast .naturally they nurse all the time .They think it should take
longer to get thier quota. They act hungry but are full .So if you wanted to you could feed several times a day smaller amounts or a weaker solution. If the smaller kid seems to always be hungry .And scours then keep close eye on it . Kopectate will help. But If there is a bug involved, or lack of a bug .You need to fix that. So probotics too!!! normal kids two weeks old should be according to Dumor. Consuming 16 ounces 3 times a day. That is a 8 hour schedule. That is what I feed.I do make very gradual increases. But you are at 2 weeks now .If the scor isn't real bad increase at least 1once a feeding .To 7 onces for two days .Then another once again for two days. You don't want to overload thier digestive system. They should already be nibbling on grass and grain .They didn't give you feeding instructions?

Feeding lamlac milk replacer purely because I was told this was the best substitute I could find around here, update small kid is now amazing/crazy and bigger kid isnt finishing her 4oz every 4hours anymore she left a few ml the last three feeds where normally she drains it dry and I haven't seen her poo in two days?? (I may have missed it but usually she does it after a bottle) She seems a teeny bit less energetic wouldn't notice it unless you knew her well so I'm thinking she has something going on now just after I got the other one healthy as a horse, figures 😂 thanks for the help

6oz not sure if they would even drink that much in one feed is it just me or does 1kg 800gram or 62oz in weight seem small for a nearly 2week old kid? Never had kid goats before and like I said these are my friends which I'm feeding to help her out so I'm learning as I go here, thank god I'm already part of BYC because of my chicken addiction this place is great for advice 😂😄👍

My kids today are 14 and 17 days old .The doeling 17 days weighs 9 pounds or 144 onces .10 % of that would 14 onces .The buckling 14 days old .Weighs 11 pounds or 176 onces .@ 10 % would be 17.6 0nces. Feeding 10 %three times a day is think is just to much at one time. I feed 4 times a day .12 to 14 onces .for him 10 to 12 onces for her. By the end of the week he will easly take 14 oz.If and when he reaches 13 pounds I will swtich to 10% 3 times a day. Feeding less more times a day is much safer for the kid.and more natural .The way I feed works out to be more per day ,and they do so much better. You are smart to feed what they can digest easily. Leave them what seems a little hungury .Mannapro is my favourite. Just to expensive and dosen't come in large enough quainties .DuMor is only about 2% lower in protien and very close in everything else .22 pounds $59.00 US. and seems like about $25 for only 7 pounds .And nobody makes a good kid starter .the formula for starter, is all good but kids don't find it desirable.I use a 11% all perpouse sweet feed as a starter feed.So how are they doing today ? You are kid sitting for how long?
