Kids are out Chicks are in!

Ya, there are lots of cooling suggestion threads on here. My ladies did fine when we lived in Bakersfield, just before moving up north to the coast here. Some breeds may be more challenged, but since you've got the BYC community supporting you already.. you're off to fantastic start. :woot

Pics always welcome! ;)

Thank you for your support. Do you know which breeds will be challenged by the heat and which will do well. Just want to be prepared.

Lighter bodied Mediterranean birds such as Leghorn fair well in the heat. Heavier feathered birds like Brahma or Orpington might be more challenged in the heat. The birds I had back them were a barred Rock, a RIR, and and EE. Keeping a solid frozen core in the water helps along with a good dirt bathing place in the afternoon shade. I personally keep what I want and work to provide adequately regardless. Here are some comparison list of different breeds..

Great and thank you. I have Barred Rock, RIR Oprington, Leghorn. two of each. I like you philosophy of getting what you want and providing sufficiently for them.
