Kids can be so mean! Update (Woo Hoo)

That's so sad. I hope she gets it back. I think the person who took it will be red-faced with shame once they realize how precious it is to her!

I am 48, and it is my daughter's old matted teddy, and the banged up baby-doll she once drew hearts on, that I am attached to.

The other day I got tears in my eyes when I opened up a small dresser drawer and for the first time saw that she had drawn a star and her initials on the side of the drawer!

Memories and precious things like this are so wonderful!

Give your daughter hugs from all of us :aww

Well the teacher talked to the class, without mention of what the missing item was. She also sent out an email to the parents to be on the look out for the doll. Hopefully it will turn up when the kids start to unpack. Cross your fingers!

Kurt Some time back I posted that some one teased my DD because she has chickens. They told her only poor people have chickens.

She took it in stride and told them that when the economy gets worse they should look to her for eggs! You just tuck that in your mind and smile to yourself!

Really? I'm idolized for it

"OMG, you're the girl with the chickens, right? Is it true you don't have a TV?"

Daycare Mom, you could suggest to the teacher to announce that it was a very special doll, implying it's a family heirloom etc. The reward is cool.
Tell your DD I'm on her side and I hope she finds her doll.

Quick update----My daughter called home from school(crying happy tears) and said she got her "lovie" back.

One of the girls brought it to school today...she said it must have accidently gotten mixed up in her stuff.

She just unpacked this weekend and found it. She seems to be being truthful, we really didn't care, she is just thrilled to have it back. Thanks to everyone for the kinds words.

My daughter read everything everyone wrote and said how nice chicken people are!

aww that is wonderful news. I am so glad she got it back. Losing something special isn't fun at all.

As for the girl having it mixed up in her stuff it's very possible. My son has had that happen on a trip also.

I just found this thread, but just in time to find out that you DD got her doll back. I am so glad that she got it back.

My little boy has a favorite teddy bear, that he sleeps with every night and I don't know what I would do if it were to come up missing. He would not sleep and neither would I....lol (He is only 4 yrs. old, though.)

So glad to hear your daughter got her lovie back. My 8 year old daughter has an Ariel doll I got her one night when she was about 3 and had a really bad cold. Ariel has travelled the world with her (literally - she's been to Mexico and all over the US) and DD would be devastated if anything happened to her.

I don't think there is anything wrong with taking a special doll or stuffed animal with you to camp. Our Girl Scouts have a camp at a neigboring island every year that includes the older girls. On their list of things to bring it actually suggests a doll or special stuffed animal.
