That's awesome! Congrats to you and Joey. I have some fridge eggs in our bator as well, they are due to hatch June 30th. All 4 are developing well, so I am hopeful. They were from our local Farmers Market and we had them in the fridge for between 2-3 weeks before we set them. Makes me wonder if difficulty incubating doesn't have more to do with transit and shipping damage than low temps of the fridge. Also I wonder if the commercial refrigerators are set much much lower temps than our typical home fridges. Anyway, love Joey's story - congrats to you all on her first egg!

Yay!! That first egg is so exciting. We got our first egg from our serama yesterday. It's so little! My first batch is 19 wk old now too!

Our rooster is fertilizing the eggs of the older hens now. When I get back from vacation next month I'll start a batch of our own eggs.

I think all 5 of my Trader Joe's are roosters! They already have combs & wattles as big s Joey's! And one of them crows already.

Congrats again!

I've been reading this thread over the past two days as I got the chance to. What an awesome story!

I agree with the poster who said this will be family lore 30 years from now. There's nothing better than sharing interest and making memories with your children.

Definate Thumbs Up!

Joey is just beautiful! I just found this thread and read the entire thing. Wonderful work for you and your son!

Congrats on the 1st egg~!

Looks like a pearl white leghorn... I had forgot about this thread... how cool that she is laying.

The only leghorn I have left.. (A CA white) turned 20 weeks yesterday. I think it's still to hot for them to be laying.
