The key that my Flight Surgeon made sure I understood was that if you drank 16oz can of (_x_) then you would need 16oz of water within the 1/2 to hour to balance it out. So if you had a a couple shots you would need at least a 16oz depending on the proof! And he said it wouldn't hurt to also have 16-32oz on your nightstand to wash down & end the night for safety. He was very frank also saying that knowing sailors under 21 will still find a way to get alcohol and if they can keep this in mind then alcohol poisoning would likely never happen. And he also said in a parting note that if you add food in there that it will help prolong the buzz and make it a less expensive night of drinks too.

I was and still am a "cheap drunk" but, on a few b-day parties (at the University); well I used this wisdom with such solid results that friends in college were completely stunned the following morning and well.... The rest is history.
