I went outside early and did first, now I'm all clean, fed, sitting and can post about it.

It was time to move youngsters and teenagers from the early summer hatches out of the tractors and into the grow out pen along side the laying flock. This morning I caught, changed leg bands, took notes on, and moved 29 feathery bodies. All different breeds or mixes but somehow I wound up with 14 cockerels, 14 pullets, and 1 still questionable kid.
Tomorrow my younger Bielefelders will be moving out of the brooder and into one of the tractors.

The Bieles will eventually join my existing small laying flock, and most of the older teens will be sold or go to freezer camp. A new Rural King opened nearby recently and my preferred feed is less expensive so that is going to help with future flock plans.
Maybe next year I can add quail.

Most youth organizations have provisions for service projects of that scale - including fund-raising. Are you a member of Scouts or 4H? If not, do you know someone who is? It would make an awesome Eagle, Gold or Clover Award Project. You would be a great resource for them - and part of the labor they're supposed to recruit.
The other option is to approach the owners and offer to do the planning and labor if they'll supply the materials. However you approach them, be sure to make it positive ... as in, "Everything else hear looks so nice and the animals look so happy. I'd love to help you fix up the small animals are, too. If you supply the materials, I'll donate my time!"
If they let you, let us know. I'll be happy to share ideas on how to get youth organizations (and pet stores!) to help with donations. I'm sure others here have good ideas, too - and you could write a cool article about it for BYC - complete with pictures!
Thanks for all the adive!!
I'm bit in 4H right now but I've been thinking about doing that. Then I could have people help work on it. I have a bad memory and this was last fall that I went there do I'm not sure how much construing type work will need to be done.. I'll definitely go visit before asking about it though. Whi knows, they may have updated it by now.

Sorry for any typos, we're out on the boat and my phone is in a waterproof thing, and the glare isn't helping lol

If it was almost a year ago why are you thinking about it again suddenly just out of curiosity? I thought you had recently visited haha I bet they either updated or got rid of them by now. Also they might be meat/production type rabbits and not want toys or whatever for them. They could probably have bigger cages though if they haven’t already. Also tanks are really not good for mice and rats. Not enough ventilation so they can get respiratory problems. Appropriate size cages are best.

They were pets that had been surrendered to them. My friend lives really close to that place, I asked her and she said nothing had really changed. I think about them often but we were always busy last year with Rosie being a puppy. If it doesn't work out then I'd like to do something similar somewhere else.
Like I said, I dont know a lot about mice and rats but when I get back today I'll be sure to do lots of research. I just said tank for lack of a better work really. I could said cage but I don't know about mice so... oopsies.

Ah okay that makes sense!!! And it’s fine! That’s totally understandable! Just wanted to make sure haha
