Kiki's found horse eggs—experiment Round 2

Yea that sounds like one.

@WVduckchick duck hatcher here with an internal pip.
How long do you recommend to wait before making a softy hole thing?

I usually wait 24 hours from internal pip before making a safe hole. Teeny tiny hole, just enough to prick the membrane. But if done correctly, it can really be done any time after internal pip.
For mallard derived ducks, I wait at least 40 hours from external pip before even considering any further assistance.

Calls are a different story. I'm in the middle of a couple call assists right now. One was malpo, on the wrong side of the egg, head between knees. It likely won't make it, but I'm trying anyway.

Edit to add...that 40 hours doesn't start with a safe hole. It starts when/if the duckling makes its first pip on its own.
