I was filling out some form or something and they asked for it and then I thought I put it back in but apparently not.

I would assume that she keeps it around to show to any police who might pull her over. Something tells me that simply reciting your license number won't cut it with certain cops -- after all, how do they know that that number isn't simply some random string of words made up on the fly? And verifying identity, in case the license is stolen.
I have always been told to keep my license in my wallet, and to always keep my wallet on me.

I always keep mine in my wallet in my purse but I needed it to fill something out and I guess left it somewhere and now cannot find it
