Ugh. So many conflicting ideas on EE’s. My last flock, the Easter Eggers were insane. I hated them. They would fling themselves into walls and wire trying to get away from me if I was in the coop. They totally disrupted the peace. Only bright side was unique (but tiny) eggs and pretty birds. Starting over with a super tiny (husband is saying 6... I’m secretly wanting 8?ish) flock makes me nervous about getting birds I dislike.

If you hated them you will continue to hate them.

I hate Wyandottes and I don't care how many people tell me nice things about them...I just do not like them and that is ok.

Don't pick a breed you already don't like.
Try a different breed.

I feel the same about Wyandottes lol. I don’t HATE them but mine must’ve been a bad line or something. Everyone here portrays them as sweet fluffy birds. Mine were smaller and more compact with skittish personality’s, a lot like the leghorns.
I kind of wanted a blue egg layer though. Hum. Maybe I’ll get two and if I still dislike them.. I’ll eat em or something lol.

They are so not worth it. I absolutely despise mine. Never again am I getting EE.

I hate Wyandottes, too. My SLW hen is freak. Very very flighty.

If you want a blue egg layer, invest in a Legbar. They lay beautiful blue eggs and are far better layers than EE, Ameraucanas and Araucanas.
Better personality too. And they handle heat well.

Dang! Cyprus is tearing me apart! Surely one hatchery’s line could be more friendly than another’s right? If anyone else can confirm friendly EE from ideal then I’ll probably go ahead with it. I know egg color isn’t guaranteed but they WERE pretty, and they did deal with the heat really well. Hmmmmm.

I reeeeally like legbar’s but I don’t think ideal has them, and Meyers is in Ohio.

I know a few others on here that have blue laying (I think---I might be making that part up) Easter Eggers from Ideal.
Just saying.
